The Louis Grinter Thread

Featured Replies

We have another grandson name coming through the ranks. Louis Grinter is the grandson of Rod and is currently coming through the elite junior pathway with the Oakleigh Chargers.

Currently playing for the under 16's championships for Vic Metro.

I know for a fact he is a very passionate Melbourne supporter and has already been invited down to the club at times as part of the father son/NGA academy even though he isnt eligible for either.

#16 Louis Grinter (Oakleigh Chargers)

Midfielder | 187cm | 04/12/2010

Grinter teamed up with Clancy to control the engine room, proving dominant on the inside and outside. His ability to spread from the contest was impressive, providing an outlet as Metro exited defensive 50 and doing so with smooth movement. Grinter’s tall frame stood out, but he was mobile enough to step around would-be tacklers in addition to just shrugging them off.

First line could have read ‘barging through the ranks’💪

I loved his grandfather’s energy and aggression!

I feel your feel, poita!

As, I suspect, does a large cohort on here!

But, on the plus side, if we can hang on a little longer, what a generation might we get to see sprung from the Dees we witnessed in the 80s/90s decade!

Unless the AFL has other ideas😰

Yep; to compensate for the misguided generosity of the era of Father/Son, they'll implement a positive embargo on Grandfather/Grandchilding ('You can be selected by any club but...')

That's OK; these passionate offoffspring will then get to us at the end of their first contracts, with our thanks for 2 or 3 years of development.

That’s ok @poita Not even 16 and already 187cm makes me feel very small.

187cm is very tall for someone playing U16.

Indeed! From Queensland Paediatric Endocrinology:

'The average height for a 15-year-old boy in Australia is approximately 170 cm (5 feet 7 inches). While 170 cm represents the 50th percentile, a normal, healthy range for 15-year-old boys spans from roughly 154.5 cm to 184 cm. Most boys experience their fastest growth spurts between ages 12 and 15, often continuing to grow slightly after 15.'

Anyone remember what Kalani was at 15? (will certainly be on one of Jeff's socials! 😄)

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
