NON-MFC: 2026 Practice Matches Week 01

Featured Replies

Took them a while to get going, but St Kilda looked pretty good out there.

Doesn't matter that they were missing Anderson, Rowell and King, pre-season ot not, GC shouldn't be losing games by 10+ goals with the list they have.

How funny was the commentator saying Trac was looking really good and was super impressive. Barely got anywhere near the contest and disposal was terrible. Missed a set shot 30m out directly in front.

I get its a practice match, first game and all, but it occurred to me that the first half of the season, Most of GCS games are at night. And with Trac's fumbly first possession, can see this is really going to be a sticking point. “ba-dum tss!”

Saints looked quite good as the game went on. But then again, last year in a pre-season practice match Carlton won by 60 odd points against GWS only to lose to Richmond in Round 1 😁

GC Suns looked decent in the first quarter but really fell off as the game went on. They did have some key players out. Might be some worrying signs for their second tier players though? 🤔

I always like to assess things after 3 to 4 rounds of the real season, get a much better handle where things sit then.

Can be pretty warm up on the GC – hopefully they’ve been down in that KoolAid by the bucket. Would have preferred the Saints to basically take everybody off and let GC win just so they don’t wake up too soon.

I did chuckle thinking "Trac, you are playing before what seems to be a Covid-19 lockdown sized crowd" From the hallowed halls of the MCG in the beating heart of Melbourne to a little stadium in the Gold Coast hinterland. Enjoy your time at Porpoise Spit CP3 😁

I’d be a little disappointed if I was gc, first game out for your new club you would want to make a good impression. Saw nothing to show he is back at his pre injury level.

Certainly not ideal conditions for him.

The half-dozen supporters were already complaining about it on his first outing

Giants are falling apart, Brent Daniels and another young player Angove have just done their hammies. I think they have a new high performance guy this year too 😬

Clarry really doesn’t look great in orange

Also dont see anything that tells me he is going to be any better or worse than what we have seen in the last few years.

Maybe. But if the coach and team know they're better than that there's probably no big deal with a loss. Add to that, you know, they're six, eight goals down and think let's just experiment and put some players on that are very rusty and it really doesn't matter. It's really not the same as a Home and away game where a big loss gives one side confidence and the other a dent to theirs plus a dent to theire percentage.

I reckon his ability to get a quick handball and get the ball out to the running power GWS has looks very good in the second half. Put Callahan and a few others in there and he’ll be a weapon.

Remember he looked like a jet last pre-season too. Will see how this unfolds over the year. Again he wasnt terrible last year, he just wasnt prime Oliver.

Good on Clarry. He looked good today although the orange outfit didn't really suit him.

Saw his stats and he had 10 kicks and 20 handballs. Imagine that will be his role with minimal kicking given his below average kicking skills. I’m sure he will be a great cover for the loss of Green though
