Collingwood living rent free in our heads.

Just because I haven't forgiven them for '58 doesn't mean this is true.

Exactly QD.

Some posters seem to thrive on endless & repetitive whingeing - if it's not the Pies "wot done it to us" it's Caro or Tom Morris or the AFL.

I was just making lunch @Cranky Franky and had the following thought: I wonder how many on 'Land will admit Caro was right?

While we have had a couple of good plaurrs from the pies we have had some shockers. Who could forget old concrete hands, the coach we took from them he will go down as the worst coach in AFL history. More recentlu the pony tail ruckman. Beware of Collingwood bearing gifts.

Where there's smoke .......

All that PR by a certain ex coach & ex CEO about what a great culture we had didn't date very well

There has been a lot said about what Maynard did. It wasn’t a good look and still bemuses me the way the AFL (predictably) handled the aftermath.

In my opinion there has not been enough said about what a vast amount of Collingwood supporters did at the ground when Gus was lying knocked out cold on the ground. And that was they started chanting Collingwooood. FMDead! The atmosphere was toxic.

I still get angry when I think about that. Talk about filthy pack mentality. Totally unacceptable and forgivable. That is why I despise Collingwood so much. It is because of their supporters. They truly are the Filth.

To be honest, with a few obvious exceptions I don’t mind the vast majority of Collingwood players and the style of football they play.

But don’t get me wrong, I want us to smash ‘em every time we play them. If we aren’t in contention for a flag, ABC. Simple as that.

Beating them more than once every five years would be good. Otherwise it's a sad one-way rivalry where our fans do their block and theirs only care about us twice a year.

This rivalry isn't what we think it is.

We can go on about sticking it to Maynard and justice for Gus all we want. It hasn't worked and why would it work in future?

There was a brief moment where it felt like there was genuine rivalry again but they have our number now. Whether it is putting us out of finals in 17 or the complete failure in the last round this year. It's like boxing/MMA where we've lost the first two fights and there's no need for a third.

For the immediate future under this new regime, I would suggest focussing inward and getting our house in order. The best revenge is living well.

Sadly this is accurate. It looked like the rivalry was back and we were playing some tight contests which seemed to seesaw, but every since Gus it's been flat and one way traffic. Like many things we did it to ourselves. I'm not saying we should have done stupid crazy dog acts but we didn't fly the flag at all and chose to "move on" from it. The insipid attitude has matched our drop from relevance.

It's a long way back now, the Pies have much bigger fish to fry.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
