Feels as if itโ€™s gonna be 2/3 of Nairn, Farrow and Pickett. With Robey, Taylor and Cumming all to go beforehand (unfortunately).

Dovaston not in our calculations?

ย

I may be in the minority but I'd happily take Pickett + Dovaston with both picks

Nairn's marking looks excellent but speed, agility don't look to be strengths

Do you think weโ€™re any chance of trading 7 or 8 back to take Pickett and Nairn with two later first round picks?

I know some will say it doesnโ€™t matter where they go if we rate them, but surely we can find a way to take both with later picks given where they seem to be ranked

I would like to think we would do that or at least try, but not from what I know.

There was conversations of trading GCโ€™s future first to get Pickett in the first round but unsure if thatโ€™s gone anywhereโ€ฆ yet.

I like both but would much rather we try and manufacture a way to take Pickett with a later pick, so that we can still take a Cumming/Farrow type

Doesnโ€™t seem so. Pickett priority I reckon if itโ€™s any small forward.

Yeah. Trading into another pick to take two players, then Pickett would be the ideal result

Is the Pickett talk based on anything apart from us on here wanting another Pickett? Genuine question there isn't enough footage of him out there..

Wouldnโ€™t be a surprise if we threw 7&8 at West Coast on Night 1 for 2&13 and take Robey and one of Nairn/Pickett. But whether or not the Eagles bite (to ensure they get Farrow) is another question.

I think West Coast would want another pick in that scenario - perhaps GC future first

I would do that to get Robey though

Dovaston and BOB, if not like the look of Lindsay

It's not as simple as that.

Many clubs may have had him as a top 10 pick, but either didn't have a top 10 pick OR had a early top 10 pick and preferred someone else OR rated him top 10 but only had one pick in the top 10.

Throughout the year he was often picked in the late part of the top 10. Why do you think Twomey had him there ?

He also injured his ankle in the Coates League GF. And in that game he was caught and looked a bit slow, which I don't think helped him.

But all Twomey did and does is read the tea leaves from the intel he gets.

I think that's mostly true but doesn't fully explain the differences between Twomey's November Ranking and his Phantom Draft. He does inject his own assessment and opinion in the Ranking.

I think it's fair to say that if his name was Pikelett and not Pickett the interest factor from all quarters would be significantly lower (such is the unique talent of our #36). LSP played most of the year at Glenelg reserves and did ok but hardly setting the world on fire - he did do ok in a late season seniors game where he kicked 4 but two of those I think were handed to him - the next week he had 6 disposals and was subsequently dropped

LSP might be a star in the making under an AFL system with good coaching and the support of his cousin close by. He might also be a player that is just not up to the highest level

I'd be ok giving Kozzy's cousin a go if we can somehow find a way to get him in after our picks 7&8 - he is not imho worth a punt in the first round of the national draft where other All Australian youngsters are still available

If itโ€™s ANY small forward. The only IF is IF we donโ€™t draft one we are being borderline negligent.

Totally agree. Glaring hole on our list.

If we want him we may well have to cough up to get him. We're not picking him because of what he is, but because of what he could become.

In JT's hands.

This gets missed a lot. Your looking at 17yo and projecting what they may be like at 21-24 essentially

Always interesting to go through previous drafts and see how many top picks never make it.

Trade our pick 7 and 8 for W.C pick 2 & 13 probably won't do it however if we toss in our F1 might get the job down. Cannot help to think that Essendon could get pick 2.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
