Tyla Hanks is leading the pack as we head into the second half of the season.

Who will kick us off with the votes from today’s game at Casey Fields?

I’ll bite - very difficult to cast votes when the team had such a comprehensive victory but here goes …

6. Megan Fitzsimon

5. Ryleigh Wotherspoon

4. Tyla Hanks

3. Tayla Harris

2. Kate Hore

1. Maeve Chaplin

1 - Harris

Wotherspoon is building nicely into her season. Good to see Bannan more involved. Pearce seems to have relished being the sole recognised ruck in the last couple of weeks. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.

We need to talk about Ryleigh Wotherspoon. 17 disposals, 7 tackles, 338 metres gained, 1 goal and that mark of the day in the last. A break out game. Her bio reads “She’s also represented Queensland and Australia in softball, cricket, and soccer”. I could be wrong but she probably has some talent and hand eye coordination 😳🤣. Will only get better.

Very happy for Fitzsimon’s for the five votes from each coach. Given she won the Demon spirit award last year I’m sure she will be well celebrated this week

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
