Welcome to Demonland Laela Ebert

Featured Replies

Laela has been brought in for Jacinta Hose, who has been placed on the inactive list for 2025 due to a serious back injury. This is after she recovered from an ACL.

Laela is 19 years old, from North Adelaide SANFLW team. She recently won BOG medal for SANFLW state team against WAFLW. She is a defender/midfielder who has worked hard on her craft since missing out on the draft last year.

But is that THE Ebert family, or just a local free range Ebert?

Yes, from what I've found out, Daniel and his brother Ricky are the sons of Jeff Ebert, who is the brother of Russell and Craig Ebert who both played for Port Adelaide, and Russell for North Melbourne

Blumin hell. You have to feel for Jacinta Hose. This new injury can’t be easy to deal with physically or mentally. Hope she fully recovers and makes it back next year

I know, I feel for her. On the plus, though, the club are happy enough with her to offer her a contract extension which she's about to sign. I wish her a speedy recovery, though, poor thing.

Super bad luck for Jacinta. I like that we've signed a contact extension in the aftermath - we look after our players. Look forward to seeing her out there in 2026.

An Ebert is only an Ebert from the Ebert region of France. Jokes aside, looks like Laela will provide some good coverage for a few positions. Always good when a player is described as "coachable" especially if they've missed out in their draft year. Something to prove!

welcome aboard laela. Looking forward to seeing you run around in the red and blue

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
