The big question this arvo is who will Ghosty hug first. Mind you, not everyone is on my hug list. I’m discerning.

Okay the boys are out here now. Understandably, the mood is awesome! The boys are doing drills (with oval balls!) on the other side of the ground while admin staff are playing dodge ball right in front of me and how I wish I had some popcorn right now coz I just KNOW someone’s about to make a complete arze of themselves.

Seems Marty Hore is the only rehabber out here

Now the boys are playing dodge ball, bloody hilarious. Tracc is ridiculously competitive, and Harves just as much.

Now it’s down to the two finalists: Chin and the Bison.

Chin’s the winner!

Oh this is cruel… they’re making Chin go back the middle by himself to see who can hit him.

And it’s Jai who delivers the final blow.

Ch. 9 and ABC interviewing Ricky Lever right now. My newest buddy Lexie (ABC reporter) is asking him questions of which I fully approve. 😝

You are a gem Ghosty. The sooner the club makes you assistant to the new CEO's assistant - the better off we'll all be.

Xavier Lindsay training Ghosty?

Yes and his throat is fine

Another beautiful day at Gosch's.

Absent today: Spargo, Jefferson and Sparrow

Rehab: Hore, but movement looks good.

With Selwyn: Viney, Woey and then Lindsay for a bit. Woey seems to be carrying a lower leg injury from Saturday? We are wondering if Lindsay is being monitored because of that high shot he took in the last quarter.

We'll know soon enough when the injury report comes out.

Great to see such a healthy list at the moment. Full training session tomorrow at Casey.

As Ghosty reported there was an "all staff" presence today and a very upbeat mood. As usual Clayton got the biggest hug!

😂 So last Friday at Gosch’s Chocco asked if he could take a photo of me. I asked what it was for and as can be imagined all manner of rude jokes ensued. But he never did tell me why.

Today after training he told me why he wanted the pic. On Sunday before the match he gave a talk to the playing group. I’m not sure what the theme was but Chocco had an accompanying slide show which included the pic he’d taken of me. He said some of the boys called out, “Hey, that’s Ghosty!” (not her real name 😁). Bless.

And if you think I’m not gonna credit the win to this you’d be sadly mistaken. 😂

Beautiful afternoon, the joy, relief and with a sense that they are in it. 35 players in full training.

"They know Sydney is never easy", I heard someone say.

Quite a few in runners.

Viney looks eager and refreshed, not wearing the training singlet.

Lindsay was back to AAMI after a short time.

Marty is getting close, doing some hard change of directions and in boots.

Structured warm-up, then the dodgeball (plenty of camaraderie) with the Admins as ball throwers until those hit joined the throwers. Some of our players with gusto to ping the last standing. Finished with goal kicking. Williams got them all kicking over the mannequins within the 45° and from 35m out. A few kept this, Sharp, Tracc, Chandler and a few others taking it seriously for the entire time.

Goody got round to Tracc, Oliver and Lindsay. He also followed them around during the warm-ups.

They are a happy lot at the moment.

So, first of all soccer balls and now they are training to get out of the road of the balls. I shakes me head.

You'll be pleased to hear they couldn't do it.

@whatwhat say what just wanted to let you know that a different ch. 9 reporter was there today (Joel) and a different cameraman (Shane) and I told them that clearly ch. 9 employs nice people only. But I added, “Except for Tom Morris.” Joel exclaimed, “But Tom’s a mad Demons supporter!” I said that I’d been told Tom barracks for the story. Both Joel and Shane, after having a laugh at that, said Tom is indeed a loyal Melbourne supporter. As I was leaving I said, “Trent last week and you today, Joel… when is it Tom’s turn?” Joel said, “Probably never!”

😂

A big thanks to Ghostwriter, Harvey Wallbanger and Kev Martin for the great reports and all posters for the humorous thread today, greatly appreciated.

Just a heads up Kev, I’m currently in Lombok so I’ll need reports no later than 1.30 to allow for the time difference. The 4 o’clock deadline is and always will be 4 o'clock in my Timezone. If you could pass that onto Mr. Wallbanger that would be appreciated.

Noted RIF. Selwyn's injury report has just dropped and the good news is that (barring anything untoward this week) Lindsay, Lever and Viney should all be available for selection for Sunday.

That leaves only Mary Hore on the injury list - listed as 3-4 weeks, but we reckon he'll be available sooner than that. We are MIGHTY HEALTHY at the moment.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
