Here in Somalia (and other countries) the bane of my life is the supposed 'promise' of new software, we have a number of bespoke packages managing delivery of services to millions of beneficiaries. They are always rolled out in Beta, they never function as promised (let alone talk well to one another) cost fortunes to get service, and the management who poorly supervised the project are far removed (sitting in Rome or Nairobi) from a bunch of very hungry, very angry people who don't understand why they are not receiving the food/support they were promised. If I ever get killed it won't be by an IED from AS/AQ, it will be by some mad b@st@rd frustrated beyond belief. My fervent desire is for these managers to visit an IDP camp and receive 'direct' feedback, I will be happily holding their arms behind their back while feedback is administered.

Wow, that sounds intense!  I had to look things up.  You are there trying to support refugees in camps, correct?

I removed almost all plugins and extensions prior to the upgrade. The test installation worked which makes it all the more frustrating and confusing.

A bit like goalkicking at training ..never miss. Come Match Day …🤷🏼‍♀️

Despite our Test Installation working perfectly our attempt to upgrade to the latest version of the the software failed. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come in 2025.

We will attempt to do it again soon.

In the meantime we can ask whether @Nasher is the right guy? Too soon?

In all seriousness, huge shout out to @Nasher for taking time away from his family to help us out. Thanks mate.

You blokes are still the greatest. Thanks for all your efforts.

99.9% Somalis (is always weird finding that odd South Sudanese or Yemeni in a Somali camp-why would you come here) anyway they internally displaced and haven't crossed a recognized border, so we call them IDPs - from either conflict or drought _ we try as hard as to keep them where they are from, so they can continue producing their own livelihood. They are actually pretty good farmers - always ready to adopt better farming practises, regardless of how previous generations did it. 70% of our budget was USaid so things looking bleak, out of a job come July, but watching kids maybe ~2 days from death have their IVs/supplemental feeding switched off is infinitely worse.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
