Well played Hibbo. Heart and soul. ย
He had the strategy to curtail guys like Cameron, Elliott and Papley. All faster than Hibbo but he read the play and got into position early to corner or body them out. ย Outstanding.ย

Michael Hibberd - Premiership player

He shut down many a star. Had great stamina and yep great footy intuition.

He always reminded me of Steven Icke who we got from North wish we had 20 of the Pig

Great news for us on the Peninsula. One of my all time favourites will be pulling on the boots for the Somerville FC this season. The club are rapt to have him return to the fold. I know the footy manager and insisted he be given no 14. Apparently Hibbo didnโ€™t care what number he plays in and is doing all the hard yards with training etc.

Pig retiring and what happened to Gus were two of the tipping points in our success levels as a club

Hindsight's a wonderful thing but was it necessary to drop him after the Collingwood qualifying final loss?

Mistake after mistake. Missed opportunity after missed opportunity. Playing Josh Schache as an unused sub.

You'd have to wonder if having the Pig down back that night may have saved one of the four goals we conceded in the last qtr to win the game??

Do we miss Hibbo more than we care to admit?

Gus was definitely a spiritual leader but we haven't had a whole lot of calm down back since Hibberd left.

That semi was a selection disaster on a few levels.

I played against him when he first played seniors there at a 16? Year old. And his late brother Geoff as well. They were very tough customers, but great fun on and off the field.

He will fit right in at Port Colts, boy they were a tough bunch and used to love roughing up us Catholic Boys playing for De La. I played against Paul Goss, Buster Harland, skipper and once had a run with job on Gary Sweet, who was an excellent footballer and top bloke!

Now I understand the way you are.......

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFLโ€™s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.ย

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics youโ€™d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
