Is this actually really true anymore?

Kozzy, McVee, Bowey, Chandler and then aerobically, Langdon isn't slow. Trac and Clarry have great burst speed too.

I’d argue it is, but the ball moves quicker than a person, so quick ball movement is more important than actual leg speed. Guys like Salem and Bowey are key to that from the back half.

In terms of leg speed, Kozzy and Chandler have genuine pace. Mcvee is average pace but has great agility and a brilliant side step. I’d argue Bowey is below average pace for his smaller size and makes up for it with quick decision making. We do miss Hunt in that regard as a line breaker and it sucks seeing him in career best form outperforming basically all our medium and small defenders, but stuck in a [censored] team.

Taj seems to be ok for pace. He wasn’t great defensively and needs to keep building his upper body strength. He’s very young though and has plenty of time. Offensively I liked his debut game. Helped setup a few goals, went when it was his turn and nearly kicked a great snap goal. There’s something to work with there.

Bowey and Rivers are good across half back although we do miss that aspect of Hunt’s game.

The forward line could certainly do with someone express pace to help Kossie but the bigger issue is when we go with too many plodding talls. Chandler has some quick steps on him but overall isn’t fast over a distance for a small and same goes for Spargo.

The midfield has definitely lacked pace at times this year and it’s highlighted without Oliver and when Tracc isn’t exploding from stoppages. Especially as Langdon has been contained.

Langdon and Oliver are the only mids who I can consistently picture running and carrying the ball in space through the midfield. ANB at times too. There’s certainly a need for more players who can link up with hands through the middle. That’s how you mess up defensive set ups and get the ball through to the fat side or in to deep forward entries.

Has a bit of speed which we lack, thought his debut was pretty good

I like that only he and Brayshaw kick naturally with the opposite foot.

Loved watching Taj’s first AFL goal.  He took it on.  Ran his full 15 metres and nailed it from 40 on the angle. Great goal. Confidence in his own skills.  Loved it.

Still Woewodin!!!

A brilliant first ever goal by SOW (Son Of Woewodin)! His Father Shane would be proud!

Hopefully his family was at the MCG to see it!
