Geez, you guys have so many 'expectation'. I'm not trying to be an a/whole, and I ask respectfully, but have you played much footy? I emphasize, I'm just curious...

No, I havent which makes me an absolute expert 😁

I like JJ and I think he deserves more game time than he gets.  But i rate him as a good honest foot soldier.

Thanks for your answer: I appreciate your honesty.

And, for the record, it doesn't mean I don't value your opinion, it just helps me understand your perspective. I've followed the D's since a958 when I was 8, I am very familiar with how easy it is to form opinions about the value of players and it's only since age had mellowed me that I understand there was a lot more in the world than I could imagine: same with footy.

Was this meant for me?

I was also crediting his work rate when it was suggested he did very little. His 22 pressure acts helped to setup our intercept game in the front half. Not going to hear me say he did nothing!

Sorrow recorded. Appreciate your insight and your reply. My mistake.

Absolutely. But that's the point, playing for a team to these guys means in the team, not at Casey, with occasional sub games.

Going through the motions?

People keep calling for JJ to have a permanent spot, but the reality is he's just not quick or dynamic enough to be included over others.

Most teams have a slowish workhorse style accumulator - and they're almost always fringe players.  They can't really play forward or back, and eventually get overlooked for someone with more pace when the whips are cracking.

There's a limit to how many slower players we can carry at once.  With Tomlinson, Brayshaw, Gawn, Lever, May, Grundy we are capped out.  And JJ doesn't have height on his side.

If I was him I'd get out asap and try his luck somewhere else at the end of the year.

Far from his best game and I agree he can do more, he would know it too. His effort is there, just needs to get back to basics a bit.

Someone should tell him then, because it's there as common as his magic moments.

This is coaching / guidance as much as anything imo.

It also seems that Kossi, having signed on again ,is now getting " less" time in the midfield again rather than the  "more" he (supposedly ) requested

Jordan - performed as expected

What I really wish is that player's names could be spelled correctly. 🥲

Also, I've never played AFL, but it doesn't mean I can't have a valid opinion.

FWIW, one of the world's most respected and commercially-successful golf course architects, Tom Doak, is an 11 handicapper who has never played professional golf. By contrast, not too many people like the courses designed by Peter Thomson as being far too hard. Down at the National they ripped one of Thomson's courses up because no one wanted to play it. It goes to show that sometimes those outside the professional game can have just as good a perspective.

So do I, but I think using Jordon instead of Jordan should be easy.

It's not like it hasn't been raised before.

Yep a good ordinary player.  Has no elite skill and is not very quick.  For one who sat on the bench for 3 quarters did not have much zip.

Seriously??

thought he had a real impact when he came on

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
