man i hate carey and wilson so much

carey i don't mind, but wilson....

Oh god Wilson makes me want to vomit, the braces makes it worse...

Did anyone hear what Kingsley said about her at half time in the cats v toiges game? I have a new found respect for him, classic!

ha yeah that was great! she hated it too. she goes 'this is an afl show lets not talk about vfl players'

god i love danners, hope we keep him. you can't throw away 10 years of experience away for nothing

he just admitted, in other words, that he won't be there next year...

aaaah!!! the free kick is soooo bad

why does the afl not let people speak their mind's? nothing in the media can ever be taken seriously. if what they say is deemed correct it should be allowed, no matter what

From that, I get the vibe he won't be there next year, I'm now 99% sure he will not coach our club next year.

he just admitted, in other words, that he won't be there next year...

Yep, strongest indication yet that he won't be coaching us next year, and I think that part of it is due to the fact that he himself wants to move on. I have no doubt that the club will separate on good terms if/when it comes to that, and I hope for everyone's sake that we start looking at new coaches in July, not September.

I want Voss as an assistant coach, and from what I've heard, so does the club. So hopefully they make that one happen.

As for Caroline Wilson, I feel for her... it must be hard being the only female in the AFL who is allowed to express an opinion.

Kent Kingsley should keep his mouth shut, and concentrate on getting a kick. He can't even break into the Richmond side FFS, and yet he is taking cheap shots at people who have rightly called him on what he is... a crap footballer.

I wonder what the chances of getting Blight in are....or even Brett Lovett???

well we didnt really learn a lot from all that. Thought they really tip toed around the Rev. lots of words all around...very little actually said. Intersting as one could view that as Daners wanting to move on, or as Carrro commented maybe he does want to stay..after all he has a lot still to prove, he knows he hasnt succeded, that must hurt.

I suppose he has to say that its not over yet...hed have to say that.. as I point out elsewhere..it prettty well is...if you're a realist...all emotions aside..

Good to seethough that he ( ND ) realises it was indeed Melbourne and no one else really that lost the game...it was there for the taking. What he never seems to say is what he is going to do about it !! He is the coach...isnt he ? he in charge of these things..traiining that is...emphasis on skills.

And what position did Caro play jaded?

And what position did Caro play jaded?

Yep, that's exactly why she gets no respect, because she has never played football.

So according to this reasoning, no female will ever be able to make her mark on the game, which is quite sad when you consider that about 50% of AFL fans are females.

I can think of plenty of media clowns like Huddo and Maher who have played as much footy as Caro has, and yet get more respect than she does.

Bottom line is, she is opinionated and it doesn't sit well with the other journalistic puppets who never ask the hard questions, and who are too scared to speak up.

She can get on her high horse too often, and her infatuation with Richmond is highly irritating, but at least she calls it as she sees it.

Edit: Yep. Daniher didn't sound at all excited by the prospect of Newton. Don't think we'll see him until much much later in the year when finals are completely out of the question. Either that, or he is trying to keep a lid on the kid ;)

Good call on Caro. I don't think she has ever painted herself as an expert on playing the game but her calls regarding most other matters are pretty spot on. Her crack at Kingsley was 100% accurate. How Richmond could get rid of Gaspar with an eye to the future but recruit Kent is stupifying.

Danners indicated hypothetically early in the intreview that he wouldn't look at playing the kids until round 16 so you can take it that this would be the latest we will see Newton assuming we are out of the finals race by then. <_<

Just a question to all u demonlanders. Our season is over, ND has said that tonight and in the paper. In reality we are very little chance for a finals birth and even if so it would be a mirricle if we went to the GF. My thoughts are to try and finish bottom 4 and get thoes draft picks but im also interested in what u guys think.

I don think we will need to try ...to finish in the bottom four.. unfortunately.. Thats just going to happen save for the pre mentioned miracle and possibly that would do us no favour anyway.

I wouldnt even really bother trying to win per se at the moment..I'd be trying to get a bit more experience under the blets of the young ones ...( why does young ones and Neale suddenly make me laugh !! ). Not only for them to get some more game time...but more importanbtly...game time together, so they begin to get a feel of playing together at this level.

I'd be trying to get them to play more than 2 quarters of good footy consitently, to get their basic skills up.. Do all of that and the payoff will come later.

its not ''chucking it in " as such...its just playing as best you can the cards you have !!

I actually think if we did this we might start coming good later in the year.. too late for anything really, but a good headstart into next year.

I learned that there is close to a 0% chance of Michael Newton getting a game this year

Agree... That was really really odd...

Frawley and Buckley with a chance soon, but Newton is 'the other young bloke'...

Neale must really have an issue there.

And what position did Caro play jaded?

Grow up mate.

She grew up around the Richmond football club during its 60's and 70's heyday, her father was President during its goldden era - you know winning premierships. I suspect she knows more about how a successful club functions than you ever will.

And a better journalist/writer than half the hacks on radio/tv.

BTW - at last check we had a female Vice President and two other female directors.

Spot on Paul.

Her AFL journalism is streets ahead of anything else around.

Some of the rubbish directed at her is evidence of the ignorance that litters AFL and those that support it.

..........

What he never seems to say is what he is going to do about it !! He is the coach...isnt he ? he in charge of these things..traiining that is...emphasis on skills.

So what would you like him to do in the media outline the game plan and tactics? That would be grand. He might do it if he follows your advice and tanks the year.

SO what changed after more than six rounds of jumping into the coach for his lack of tactical nous that you want to tank the season? You have now given up on winning. Its definitely chucking it in. How can opt to "play the kids" and "play the best cards you have"? Doesn't Richmond ring any alarm bells? What do you think they got out of the game time against Geelong and hounding they have received in the media since? Oh no its great stuff that builds character! Also what do you major sponsors and paying members think when you tank the year after round 6 like Richmond has? Do they rush to sign up next year? Marvellous

Daniher is getting experience into many of those players who have less than 3 years or 50 games. We need to get injured front line players back. We need to rebuild confidence in the side that has been decimated in the early rounds. We need to play to our ability of having an actually fit side. That is the best formula to introduce young players into the team.

I have no doubt that Newton and Buckley will get there chance this year but our focus should be on winning and being as competitive as possible.

How good's the draft occo?

So should we outdo Richmond who have tanked the year?

What effect does Richmond's capitulation have on their financial situation?

Daniher has been witch hunted by the "experts" for various coaching shortcomings, now we want to tank the year?

No wonder other teams attack our culture. The ski season cant be too far off.

I think that is the issue that alot of people have missed this in the burning of Daniher effigies.

I am not confident that deep down after Round 2 with the injuries stacking up that ND realised that any hope of a shot at Top 4 and the season was gone.

I think you have it right there Jaded about the future for ND.

Kingsley should spend more timing consoling Ray Hall with his issues. He is more value doing that than playing.

stuff tanking! i want to play the kids if they are warranted, otherwise i want the best 22 out there, the finals are not out of the question, we have gone 10 and 2 before which would set us up nicely for the run in (not saying we will, just a possibility) id rather the guys regain some confidence and a winning mentality, so that next year they realise ok if we didnt cop the injuries so early we would have played finals.

been listening to grant thomas on sen and i have changed my mind about this guy, i think he can coach and wouldnt be a bad pick up

but for me GO VOSS OR GO HOME!

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
