The club’s jack-of-all-trades was almost lost to the club when invited to tour the facilities at the Hangar but wiser heads prevailed and the loyal Demon is back on board for a couple more years.

"Harmes was linked to Essendon during the trade period with reports he was weighing up a trade request in pursuit of more midfield time, but he has remained a Demon and still has another two years to run on his deal at the club. Harmes played 21 games this year, including both finals." - Herald Sun

MY NEW FAVOURITE PLAYER!

Was always a very close second anyways. And I’ve heard some stuff about him of late that’d make you wanna adopt the boy. 😁

I’m actually off to the Demon Shop later today to buy a guernsey with #4 on the back. Ima keep my #29 one though coz Eden Zanker. 😍

I hope you tuck it in like Zanks! She's a 🦄 in this regard 😁

Can you share the goss on James? (though I have enough children, thanks)

Minor point, but the career and 2022 totals are back to front.

Uhm… tucking a guernsey into shorts or any pants for that matter is a call 000 (fashion) police situation.

There’s a bunch of stories about Harmesy all stemming from his unwavering loyalty to his teammates and his determination to protect them. This applies especially to Fritta since he and James are besties. Fritta calls James his bodyguard. 😁

Also, James does SO much for our Club. If there’s an event and we’re told “some of the players will be attending” this really means, “ Harmesy will be attending and maybe some of the other players.” True story.

Love James Harmes and also hold him in high regard because of his versatility and his team oriented play. His stats were also down on 2021 performance but I feel that was more due to him being played out of his usual role of lockdown, run with player playing through midfield and half forward where he is a good mark and accurate kick for goal. Looking forward to seeing Harmsey given the opportunity to play to his strengths in 2023. Thank goodness he didn’t seek a xfer to Bumbers.!!!!

Meh.

Ouch.

I liked his start to the year where he kicked 6 goals in the first 4 games including important ones against Bulldogs and Essendon. Mids that kick a goal a game are worth their weight in gold.

The rest of the season didn't leave much of an impression on me and I can't even recall what position he mostly played. He'd be disappointed with being dropped from the senior 22 in round 20 leading into the Pies game.

He was apparently listed as our best player in the Brisbane final. Cannot recall him playing well in that game.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
