AFLW: Rd 06 vs Fremantle

Another awful Birch effort gives up a goal. Mids need to lift big time hereย

ย

Mids are terrible defensively. Leaving huge holes in the corridor.

ย

I swear they've invented new rules here.

Goldrick is a classic lolโ€ฆalways on Go.

Getting the ball into the forward line quickly helps with scoring opportunities.ย

Some of our defence is a little loose.

A few to many handballs to players under pressure.ย

this is a decent game. good passages of play from both teams

Freo have had the better of it around the ball but if we can win our fair share of it we have the forwards to win it.ย

its the gaelic way

Mithen's field kicking has been excellent today. She's nailed a couple of corridor kicks

That was a gorgeous passage of play until the Bannon dropped mark. One the best Iโ€™ve ever seen from the girlsย

what a rubbish HTB call against mithen there

How does an umpire genuinely call that a free?

It was, but she so consistently tries to take on tacklers and drops her head, sometimes the umps are going to punish itย

She did neither.

Bannan's lack of form this year a real worry.ย

She moved in to the tackle/to ground rather than disposing of it. Itโ€™s a vibe thing. Still an awful decisionsย

Umpiring has managed to get even worse.ย

Since when do you get to take a down field that goes out on the full from the pocket?ย

As I said, they're creating new rules.

Great mark Kate Hore

If that was mens football, she was seeing stars and knocked completely out. Went back with no sense of fear. Itโ€™s just lucky the girl coming the other way lost sight of the ball and didnโ€™t jump

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
