All I remember is looking down on Gabelich running past me in the the Northern Stand and feeling sick and someone ( Crompton) putting the world back on its axis

Also Dickos kicking, and I can recognise Bluey before the commentator calls him.

Even worse goal kicking than today but no one seems to mind.

Great names there and none of us knew the Tigers were about to invade our home ground......advantage

I was there that day.  I love the way the players bounced the ball about every five metres. And the terrible kicking styles.

On behalf of Dicko ..I am insulted by your kicking observation( he got a bit of the ball too)[ smile]

I remember John Lord as a bit of a duffer..I guess that was closer to his retirement and when I was a bit older.

Bluey ripping off out of defence on the outer side brought back memories.

Note to fans ..I wore number 6 on my jumper until I was about 15  then I stored  it away to memory.

If you are 30  + years old don't embarrass yourself

I wore nos 8.  Sat in the front row, top deck old Olympic stand up against the MCC fence.  All I can really remember is jumping up with relief when the siren went.

Behind the goals watching Crompton's kick sail towards me. What a sight.

GO DEES

Memory and last quarter jitters...I remember Gabelich 's wobbly run down the forward line being longer but I do remember 3 Dee's chasing him down...too late.

Maybe that was why Norm was so angry at Crompton..

Bleeding Hassa Man..I reckon I could have slotted that and I was only 14!

BT would have gone crazy( laugh)

Does anyone know why there where 3 circles across the centreline of the ground?

They would change the circle being used to keep the game day one in top nick.

Poor drainage in those days.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
