I have "enjoyed" it but found it to be mostly uninspiring. As it turns out, being at the top, being hunted, being hated really isn't that fun. Remember when merely making finals was a huge win for us? Now it's top 4 or bust. I do remember at this *exact* moment last year convincing myself we weren't going to finish top 4. The remaining 7-8 weeks are such a blur. This year has felt like a real grind. Every game has seemed *tough*. And the losses have really stung. Especially the Sydney, Collingwood and Bulldogs games. I lost sleep over them. Which sounds weird I know. I don't feel like we've really had any stiring, passionate wins this year. Whereas every single one of our losses seems to have been the opposition's biggest win of the year. That really pisses me off. Teams really love beating us. I thought I'd enjoy being hated but it's made me hate losing even more. I just can't handle the way people carry on when they beat Melbourne. It makes me reallllllly want to burt the living daylights out of Freo and Collingwood. Really put them to the sword. I just thinking objectively across the whole year and the stars just aren't aligning. Weirdly this year has 2020 vibes for me. Not bad, mostly forgettable, frustrating in parts, fun others. The next 4 weeks might change things for me but something seems off. I haven't been able to put my finger on it. You're an [censored]. 1 3 Quote
Wodjathefirst 2,671 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 To be honest less so than last year until we just smashed Brisbane. Always have had faith in the boys but man, how tough has it been being the reigning premiers and having everything thrown at us all bloody season. We are back in town and are serious contenders…. 3 games to go 2 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) I'm loving it Was stung by the pies loss and was in a dark place after Curnow kicked that Carlton goal with only a couple of minutes to go but the boys have responded in spades since then I think it's all coming together beautifully. We're going B2B baby Edited August 19, 2022 by BDA 2 Quote
Bring-Back-Powell 15,562 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) I get that 2021 meant a heap for Melbourne supporters, but how much better is it watching games live at the G again. Relevant games at that. Edited August 19, 2022 by Bring-Back-Powell 2 Quote
At the break of Gawn 4,515 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Changing this to a ‘No’ now. The last 5 games I’ve been to we’ve lost (I missed the Brisbane and Carlton game) and 4 of those losses were at the MCG. To lose so many games at our home ground as the reigning premiers is so disappointing. Quote
dazzledavey36 56,373 Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 I enjoyed 2018 more to be honest. We played such a fast and exciting brand and would score heavily and won some pretty high scoring games. But we also leaked goals pretty easily so it was much of a muchness. We've obviously turned to a more defensive game plan which resulted in a premiership so can't complain at all from that point of view. I also lived in Melbourne at the time and attended a lot of games. The 2018 finals experience is by far the biggest highlight supporting the dees in terms of being there on the spot. 2018 was certainly from an entertainment point of view more enjoyable. 2 Quote
