Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is it time for Daniel Bell to go in the midfield?

Sorry i was under the impression that this site allows people to express their feelings about melbourne. I am a melbourne supported and although i havnt been for long, i have had membership each year and donated around $400 on top of membership. I have read trates on here abusing bate and asking for him to be traded. And yet you attack me. I have witnessed players sledging against Holland and Nicholson. I seriously dont rate Bell - thats my opinion. I just dont see anything in him because

a) he is slow. ok on record he is quick but over time i have witnessed players running him down who are 2/3 less than his speed

bb) i dont feel he reads the ball that well

c) His kicking skills are ok, but he doesent deal with pressure well and instead makes terrible disposals.

I am not one who is going to lie - i speak my mind, a always have. Ask me for an opionion and i will tell u the truth so like it or not, thats where i come from

we know your are speaking ur mind and telling us your oppinion....its just that your oppion is stupid.

Its a well known fact the bell is one of the fastest players on our list, yet u call him slow. You say he doesnt read the ball well yet he has been our best backman so far this season, a position where only those who read the play well can thrive. You may have seen him get run down at times and thats not because hes slow, its because he takes chances and takes on tacklers rather than give off a silly handball to someone else under pressure. He actually stands up and has a crack!! Additionally he was slowed in previous seasons by injuries in particular his OP which limited the use of his speed.

Pay more attention at games occo...

I don't see how his opinion is 'stupid' - or even wrong re: Bell.

Maybe Bell is one of the fastest guy in an athletics race, but that counts for little out in the field.

You're right in that he gets run down, but not because he takes on tacklers - generally he gets run down from behind while trying to figure out who to give the ball to.

Seriously u are the one who is stupid. Im one of a few that watch games, rewatch games the night after the game and during the week. Bell does not have speed on the field....he was rundown several times during the geelong game. Im interested why people think this kid is good? I dont see anything good about him. He isnt slow on the field, dispite what u say.

Take a hard look on this forum. Noone has addressed my issue of people bagging bate, dispite several posts. I think you need to look at thoes people- they have less reasons than i do about bell.

I am not going to think otherwise just because a few people tell me to watch the games more. Prove me wrong - that is completly fine, i am happy to be shown otherwise. But the money i believe is with me

occo...

a) He is quick. He catches most guys he tries to catch, and keeps up with the fastest leading forward when on the lead. I'm not sure where you get it from that he's slow. Maybe last year when he was still under that injury cloud.

B) Perhaps. You're entitled to your opinion there. But I'll still disagree. He's picked up a number of possessions in his time, and there's certainly to reason to suggest he is a POOR reader of the play. Not everyone can be Rivers.

c) His kicking skills are as strong as you can ask for. Not everyone can be Trav! Under pressure a number of times this year he's found matched-up targets and hit them perfectly at distance. On this you really should have a good old gander at him this weekend. Hopefully he won't let me down, and if he doesn't, and you miss it, well then there's nothing more I/we can do.

He can go into the midfield for the Zebras - thats about it! The bloke isnt up to AFL standard, lets face it!

I have come to the conclusion that you talk out of your pooper

If you disagree, please send me a private message to discuss

Yours truly,

I have seen this and share your disappointment that people are bagging a young kid (it is no way his fault that we are losing). Although I haven't seen people calling for Bate to be traded.

I disagree with your comments about Bell and think you may be slightly prejudiced based on some of his more unflattering games in the past. This year has not been a happy time for us (understatement of the century) but Bell has been one of a few shining lights - on form he would be in our top five best this year along with Bruce, Jones, McDonald and Moloney.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
