Interesting talk about centre bounces versus throwing the ball up and Max's reasons for preferring bouncing.  Which reminds me - why when a 6 6 6 warning is given do they throw it up?  I can understand why the do so if they d a bad bounce - a string of bad bounces would look bad. But after a warning??

(And if other ruckmen didn't know the likely bounce height of various umpires, they do now.)

I’ve heard inside a club this being talked about as a tactic. If there’s a critical Centre bounce coming up, and you think all things being equal you should win the hit out (ie Max v spud), then deliberately violate 6-6-6, get a warning, and it’s a guaranteed throw up, eliminating any variability from a bounce and giving you the best chance. Obviously you can only do it once though, so pick the right moment.

Max is just so natural and loveable with Gazz and Tim, nothing really worry him outwardly.Interesting that he considers Weid as the best backup ruck and that he fears for TMac as he is a bit reckless in the centre bounce. !!!!!

CP5 speaks well doesn’t he

He certainly does Meggs confident and thoughtful, honest and doesn’t just play the straight bat.!!

Andy Maher was very impressed. His answer to the dynasty question is exactly the right pivot - we want the underlying environment that enable dynasties but don’t expect to win them. Perfect answer.

Did anyone hear the Lingers interview at 2:05 on SEN?

Absolutely.  Very articulate and collects his thoughts so easily.  Clearly loves our Club and the culture we have built.

They now have the Ed Langdon interview on MFC website, he is also a very good communicator.!!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
