A little flashback to the not so distant past. This is round 23 v Geelong at GMHBA Stadium and highlights Clarrie’s two goals.

The first is quite amazing, like Moses he parts the Red Sea and finds the way to the goals. It’s not as if it’s accidental - he’s done it a few times in the past couple of seasons. How does he do it?

What I find noticeable is that he never rushes it. Neither of those kicks and few if any of his other shots from play seem hurried OR hesitated. It's actually really impressive despite being completely undramatic.

"No dramas" Clayton, that's our guy.

That is the greatest Melbourne victory of all time. To come back from 44 points down was remarkable.

It was the beginning of the greatest streak I have ever seen. After that game bang, bang, bang

This is the final missing piece of Clayton Oliver's game that he needs to focus on more. Kicking goals regularly.

We all know how much of a fantastic midfielder he is with his hand balling. Furthermore, Clayton's kicking around the ground has improved significantly. In fact, his whole finals series was magnificent.

The final hurdle for him is to become a regular goal kicking midfielder. If Clayton can start kicking 2, 3 or 4 goals a game on a regular basis then he will probably become as good as, if not a better player, than Dustin Martin. Therefore, making him not just a star but a superstar of the AFL.

Let's hope besides continuing to get fitter and stronger and improving his kicking that Clayton also looks to doing more work on kicking goals on a consistent basis.

It will be a very close Best & Fairest count for the Melbourne Football Club this 2021 season with so many standout performances. However, I still think that Clayton Oliver should win another Demons Best & Fairest over Christian Petracca, but only just!

In the end it is all about winning Premierships and I feel that Clayton is definitely hungry to win more Premierships for the Demons! On ya Clarrie! Time to create a Demons Dynasty!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
