Okay.  I wasn't keen to derail this thread, but if it helps a fellow Demonlander to avoid this crap, then I'll regard it as a 'public service'.

Received a call on landline from a scumbag claiming to be part of an internal fraud team with my bank.  Said they were trying to catch an internal bank employee who was misappropriating funds. Convinced me to transfer funds to another account, so that they could apprehend the (bogus) employee 'red handed', and you can guess the rest ........

They had hacked my account and had all the details (including most recent transactions).  Extremely well scripted with relevant bank music and spiel when the 'phone was on hold, gave me their employee ID numbers, etc. etc.  BUT I shouldn't have been so gullible.

Beware fellow Demonlanders.

Very sorry to hear this Dof. These scumbags are the lowest of the low. They take advantage of people's trusting nature. It's very difficult to be alert to this all the time.

I work in a finance role and i can guarantee you that this type of stuff is happening all the time. You only have to be off guard just the one time and they have you. I hope you can recover from the financial hit. These bastards have robbed people of their life savings so i hope thats not the case with you.

Yes. My credit card got hacked last year whilst i was overseas. Fortunately it was only $10 American, but i did have to cancel the card. Since then i have done a lot of research into scammers.
Digital Bank Accounts seem to be the best alternative at this stage

Please, please don’t say this. This is by no means due to anything you did. You were taken advantage of by a seemingly very well-organised, well-executed scam. This is 100% on them. 0% on you. 💕

I know I made comment but this thread is supposed to about NC's Grandson. Congratulations NC.

Thanks BDA, I appreciate the thought.  It leaves a horrible taste but I'm okay.  Probably means a bit less Premiership memorabilia though!

So sorry to hear of your plight Deeoldfart. As far as I am concerned you are not derailing this thread - we are both making community announcements.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
