A thread to show appreciation to the wives and girlfriends, many of whom have had to make substantial personal sacrifices so that the squad could get the job done.

Edited by TRIGON

Probably a better way to start by using the term wags, it’s only appropriate as a put down for influencers breaking covid restrictions.

  • TRIGON changed the title to Thank You Wives & Girlfriends

can’t imagine how tough it would be having a new born plus other kids to deal with solo. They all made a big sacrifice

I’m sure the HABs will do just as well if the girls are playing away for the ALFW flag

“Thanks to our wives and girlfriends. May they never meet” 🤣

Ahh yes, the classic old english toast "to my wife and sweetheart...may they never meet".

Ima take it one step further…

What’s the difference between a man’s wife and his girlfriend?

About 25 kilos

if I’ve offended anyone’s sensibilities I apologies in advance.

Thanks, that explains the dilution.

Great facebook post by Samantha Jetta (also appears on Delistings 2021 thread courtesy of @dazzledavey36)

"This month has been full of emotions as your 13-year journey at Melbourne FC has come to an end; however you have stayed true to yourself, showed incredible loyalty and stayed humble.

Your career hasn't been easy. You have overcome so much adversity by the club during its 'dark days' when most players only play under 1 or 2 coaches in your career; you have played under 6! Not mention personally, with all the injuries you have had and been delisted on 2013 and re rookie to getting a spot on the seniors' list.

You have fought on for a spot in every one of the 159 games you played, but your success shouldn't be measured by what you achieved on-field or how many games you played but by what you have achieved off-field and by the number of lives you have touched, impacted and transformed.

But in your journey, the REAL MVPS are Nalani and Kyree for their sacrifices.

They have lived and breathed every second of the past 10 and 7 years.

Nalani and Kyree have gone without you for Birthdays, Easter, Fathers Days and other important events.

They have been by your side every step of the way, from giving you a post-match debrief and tips after every game trying to coach you, also completing post-match recovery with you and been to countless training sessions."

They have nursed you during injuries, felt every win and loss, opened their home and hearts to Kozzy and giving up their bedrooms, and not to mention their most significant sacrifice by turning their worlds upside down last year, living under strict covid protocols and moving interstate and into a hub.

We love you and are incredibly proud of you, We can't wait until you get back xx."

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
