It’s amazing how often one really good team wins one game and next time it’s the other’s turn

if we win tomorrow it doesn’t auger well for the Grand Final

You think wed play Doggies in the big dance? If we got there i would be more inclined to think it would be Geelong.

A cold crowdless day at the G scares me a bit. Seems we play better with a crowd, even a hostile one. I think well win but it might be pretty close.

Yes, the game outcome is very likely, PF, to be determined by the umpires, their tendencies for 'entertaining footy' and catchups (particularly if the Dees are ahead or look like going further ahead), the selectively unobserved Doggies bending of the rules such as throws, chops, hitting key Melbourne players from behind - preferably in the head and neck - knee drops, arm chops at all costs and an assortment of further incursions as these opportunities may occur.

Overcoming the 5-goal advantage across a game from the umpires, the Dees still should still prevail although the margin will be small and hard-fought.

Holding one's breath for this game; several things are just bound to amplify annoyance and disbelief.

Carna Dees!

Dees are 1.84 on sportsbet. Dogs 2.00.

I'm not a gambler so how on earth can this be explained?

Agree with you D17. I'm thinking Deez $1.12, Barkers $3:80. We beat them decisively five minutes ago and they completely shayt themselves when we bought the heat at the 18 minute mark of the third term. Deez easily waltzing away with it. (Plus Matthew Lloyd needs a new premiership favourite to announce every Monday.)

Tell me he’s not umpiring our game and your just pulling my leg? I don’t think I can handle another umpire ravaged game.

I guess we whipped them last time.

I predict white knuckles....vows broken....a trip to the bottle o at half time, a nervous dog, concerned neighbours and a happy camper after a roller coaster ride.

Nothing new.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
