Funny thing is, when BBB gets the free in the third with 1 min left the frees are 14-12 and we are 6 points up. At the end of the third the frees are the same and the game is done!

It’s interesting that incidents like this, and the May mark in the 2nd that wasn’t paid, among others, aren’t picked apart when it’s a 74-point thumping.

Harmes has his head ripped off a second prior also.  Was very grating to not get them while Hunter and McCrae got some very soft ones.

Thought the game was well umpired.

There were three shockers I picked out, One was Hunters massive duck into a tackle for a free, two was picket doing a much smaller duck and not getting the free and three was the park not paid to May late in the second. Otherwise I though it was pretty good.

Brown didn't put his hands in his back, it was hid forarms, plus the hands in the back rule doesn't exist any more. Brown didn't push him either so that one was fine. Brayshaw also had his eyes on the ball, play on.

I think I shouted at the telly only twice (on the umpiring, that is - I was pretty vocal in other ways, including a primal scream of what I've since realised was emotional release after Clarry's goal) At the end of the game I said to my (non-footballing) partner that the umpires must have had a good game cos they weren't really noticeable. The analysis above suggests there were things to notice but, on their whole body of work, I think 'Mainly Went Unnoticed' is a pass-mark 3-word analysis of their game.

The umpires called them out to play on for short kicks.  They were used to generally getting away with them.  It surprised them, they couldn't control the tempo and weren't ready to play on.

Thankfully the umps didn't give them too much leeway with throws etc. 

Their style of play depends on getting away with short kicks, and with throwing the ball out of close-in trouble.

It's not bending the rules, it's deliberately breaking them, and they're coached to do it. It's just wrong.

Maybe the AFL are waking up to this.

Fritsch was held in the goalsquare in the first quarter and not paid, but other than that it was well officiated.

These two were the worst.

As usual it was the non-calls that were the howlers and most of them were against us.

A Swans mad friend of mine told me he loved that we outscored them 16 goals to 1, because in the 2016 GF they got 16 frees to 1 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Trying to verify this. Anyone know if that’s right? No wonder the Swans were furious that day.
