Watching it live from behind the goals it was a fantastic shepherd that Sparrow supplied to Hunt. He ran full tilt for about 30-40 metres just to lay the bump and create some more room for Hunt. Very selfless. He would have known he was no chance of a possession from his actions but i’m sure they would have highlighted it in the review as a great team act.

In fact, and not just in our games (where umpiring always seems better when you win), but across the board I think umpiring has been better this year.

Razor Ray managed to get the even coin toss wrong in the Geelong -Hawks game. Selwood had to tell him it was a head not a tail.
No improvement there.

What the hell was dermie rabbiting on about with that.

Great response from spazza. As if dermi would have let a teammate get a wack in rhe head and not remonstrate.

What the hell was dermie rabbiting on about with everything?

I always find Dermott's comments to be a really good example of highly articulate sophistry ultimately tending towards meaninglessness.

  • Demonland changed the title to The Tom Sparrow Made Me Cry Thread

When our players tackle like this we tend to win. Back when Cameron Bruce wore the 32 we had a season as the number one tackling side in the league. I believe it may have been the year Troy Broadbridge passed away.

Talking of injuries. We have destroyed the Giants season. Dangerfield out this week and Rohan. Prestia injured and Jack Gunston. We should go hard at the next 3 games.

Yes, he made me cry with his childish delight.  Did you see him jump up and down on the spot with glee when Gawn took that pack mark?  And the commentators sure did call his name a lot.  Hit top form at the right time of the year.

And I think the minerals in the WA water is turning his hair curly.

Go Yung Sparra.

How's the shephard from Sparrow?

Sparrow really goes into the opposition with courage, intent and fine recovery. He is becoming a most reliable team member who accepts the 'unpleasant' and 'dangerous' roles as part of the game, as part of his contribution to the team, as part of his repertoire of skilful acts. I like the boy! Carna Dees.

Sparrow is going to be a serious player IMO. His toughness, intent and ability overhead are some excellent traits and he has two of the best midfielders in the comp to learn from.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
