Hmm, we usually don't get much from the umps.

It looks to me that Mithen gets crunched into the ground, sat on and roughed up quite, a lot in part because of her stature.  And it often goes unnoticed by umps and teammates.

She is my favorite player and the fact she gave Maxy a piggy back just elevates her status.

Fantastic performance by the team on Saturday night, probably the best I have seen them play. The talents of our top 5-6 players have been well documented, but it is really pleasing to see the likes of Colvin, Sherriff, Parry and Heath starting to play really solid football on a consistent basis.

This is why we get so frustrated, because the team's best football is as good as anybody's, but their bad days are really awful.

I'm really pleased to see Stinear stick with the changes that worked well against St Kilda, but hopefully he is prepared to move things around further if things go against us at some point over the next two weeks.

With the Dogs a game and percentage behind, and Carlton two games back, our destiny is very much in our control. Another win should secure a finals berth and two would give us a chance of going top four.

As an aside, the consistency of our TV coverage has been fantastic this year. It will be very disappointing if AFLW coverage falls away with the AFL starting this week.

I see there is a fuss about the need for goal line cameras after that dubious call in the match.  https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/mar/15/calls-intensify-for-aflw-to-follow-men-and-implement-score-review-technology

While there is a lot to argue about cameas, their quality and placement, this quote strikes me as ridiculous:

Quote

The technology replicated cricket’s Snickometer – where the sound is analysed to determine if a ball grazes a bat – and uses microphone technology installed in the goalposts to conclude whether a ball has touched the post. This comes in handy when a ball off the boot does not deviate after nicking the post, yet a sound can still be picked up.

Leaving aside the numerous occasions when players are themselves grazing the post as the ball gos through, why not rule if the ball does not deviate it should be a goal.  Much easier to change the rule to 'if the ball does not deviate, it's a goal' than introduce yet more shonky technology.

It was just Sheer's luck she wasn't injured.

Let's hope for the Dockers sake they don't have player called Dumb.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?
