Watch the first scenario happen right in front of our eyes.

Better than losing everything, but it still equals nothing

Just as a head's up.

I noted like someone else (before last weekend) that the Squiggle auto ladder predictor had us in fifth winning five of the last six with a % of 112 or so (down from 118% at the time). Must have been one mighty loss. But then found out the simulation wasn't fixed. Hit the button again and we were down in 10th. And again into 8th. And so forth.

Daniher to kick 10 goals in Rd 17 and Dons to pip us out of the finals.

Yep, I think this one will be the problem as well. Very few teams have been competitive off a four day break, let alone actually winning.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
