Both players suffered ACL's,  at least a couple of times.

But if both were uninterrupted by knee injuries,  then IMO,  Schwartz could have bee one of the AFL's best ever players.

Got to agree with you here. Schwartz in my opinion would  have won a Brownlow from a forward spot he was that talented. Shame he did his knees. Was brilliant to watch when on song.

Schwarz circa 1994 is close to my favourite all-time Demon player.   Please posters, don't put a "T" in his name!  *pedant rant over*

I hadn't realised  I was doing that.  Thanks ds'.

This is becoming too hard. Whoever  I chose will be up against Neitz in the next round and, in any reasonable sense, I would pick all three to be in the best team that I have seen in 60 years.

Even worse, the chosen one out of these three would most likely have to go up against  Jimmy. That is going too far. I can no longer participate in this process.

So whilst I would select David ahead of Sean I will no longer submit a vote. Next time let us be asked to name a top 5, 10 or 20 so that we do not have to tear ourselves apart pitting heros against heros. It's just too hard.

This is currently a top 8 poll though so i doubt you'll handle a top 5 ?

So,  the Grand Final playoff,  will be the magical match-number,  '31'.

Anyone who hasn’t read Schwarz’s biography ‘All bets are off’, give it a look.  Astounding story and very easy to read.  Recasts his career in a completely different light.

A top five is easy. Stynes, Schwarz, Neitz, Wight would all be worthy candidates along with Lyon.

To have a contest between any two of this group is disrespectful and unbearable.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
