The television coverage

Featured Replies

Last night the Seven Network took us back into the stone age as far as broadcasting football on TV is concerned. The graphics were aweful and looked dated (did they dredge them out of the vault after attracting cobwebs for five years?), the commentary team didn't look like a "team", they certainly weren't dressed like one. The production was shyzen with comments being cut by advertisements etc.

Obviously, they learned nothing from their practice simulation at Telstra Dome earlier on in the week.

Nine's presentation last year was light years ahead of this mob in terms of professionalism.

Seven - lift your game!

Yeh i have to say i only watched half the first quarter cause it was on to late here in brizzi, but the graphics were terrible i thought also, all i can say is lucky they got dennis commeti.

It reminded me of watching footy on ABC.

It was worse where I am.

We get Seven relayed through Prime Bendigo. Prime Bendigo have not yet installed a digital transmitter. So not only did we get disjointed commentary, bad cuts and '80s graphics, we also got a ghosty, overbright 4:3 analogue picture. After having widescreen on 9 and 10 last year, this is pathetic. Prime really suck.

PS. Someone please tell David Schwarz that a group of supporters is a "contingent", not a "contingency". Although in the case of Collingwood, he might still be right.

PPS. Who on earth picked Brucey's suit?

PPPS: What's Brucey's favourite word, except for "special"? It's "ta". Egan kicks ta Burns, ta Wakelin, ta Thomas, ta ...

PPPPS: I know it's early in the season, but Collingwood's young players look like they've got an awful lot of work to do.

could only watch it for 10 minutes. the footy was pretty average but the broadcast was amatuerish and lacking polish. Channel 7 need to understand that they are there to enhance the product as well as broadcast it to the masses. something they didnt do in their previous stint either.....

Agree with everyone on here. Comintory team was shocking, comments interupted by ads but the worst for me was their camera position for the kick outs, attemps at goal and ruck situation. If any of u have played AFL 05, when you replay a goal, they use the same camera position as last night. It was so bad. I much prefer close up camera shots. Was utterly disopointed but then again theres no eddie so that made it slightly better...not much tho. I hope their just testing this for the real season otherwise were in troble.

Foxtel handling the Pies/Roos clash was better. Frightening huh?

Thankfully 'The OC' finale provided a good distraction. Whenever I switched over, I was greeted by shocking graphics, amaturish commentry and god-awful football.

I know I should be ashamed of myself for choosing an average teen-drama over footy, but it was an easy choice last night (Collingwood didn't help the cause either).

Let us not forget how hideous the Kangaroos jumper looked-That team will lose its soul if they keep going the way they are-Not that i care!!!!

At least they were not biased like the Foxtel commentary of the demons vs hawks match.

danny frawley was terrible - the tackling over the boundary line a prime example.

it was like watching us play in adleaide or perth, there is only one team playing!!

Yes i know what you mean, Frawley was awfully bad i only watched the first half because of that.

Sandy Roberts should call on seven he was ok.

Voss was pretty poor in terms of timing etc, but he's pretty inexperienced so perhaps he'll get up to a decent standard.

I think it's saying something that seven's coverage of the footy makes Ten look first rate. Commentry was dull Bruce is tired and no one had any chemistry going with Dennis, who seemed to be trying hard to hold it all together, and how the hell does Tim Watson manage to keep getting TV gigs Mr no-personality. The whole package lack charisma, class and humour. I think Nine spoiled us over the last 5 years. Eddie must have been laughing his big moon head off.

LIFT YOUR GAME SEVEN!

The TV Coverage here in Sydney is too late, why would you want to watch a game at between 12 to 2 or even a start of 2 in the moring <_<

If you channel 7 have got the rights, broadcast at a good time like 8:30pm or 9:00pm

As far as I'm concerned they can do what they want with their coverage as long as we get some flashes of vision like THIS,

and THIS

I would prefer if Channel Seven just had Bruce, Dennis and someone on the boundary who can find out information about injuries and alike.

IMO a "Special Comments" person is not needed.

I'd never noticed that Cometti line before about Davey: "He chases like a librarian, you don't hear him coming." Gold

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
