Harris & Head can be added to that list DJ.

Time for some new blood.  We actually need 4 batsmen which is unprecedented.

If Alex Carey was in the side we could bat him as high as no.5 whilst Mitch Marsh could maybe bat at no.7.

Regardless,  there's a lot of holes to fill.  Yet here we are retaining the Ashes.  Strange days indeed.

So right..........

amazing given that we have a decent bowling attack/

You have to ask if T 20 etc means that this is the decade of the all rounder

The Schoolkid is a good bowler. A good find for England and only 21.

What about those Spitfires. The sound of those Rolls Royce Merlin engines, its just unmistakable.

There are other batsmen who I'd prefer to see who (IMO) are more suitable.

Renshaw,  Pucovski & Patterson all look good to me and there's almost certainly 1 or 2 others.

And in Australian conditions there are any number of batsmen who can shine (including the aforementioned Warner,  Harris,  Bancroft,  Head & Wade)

We just continue to struggle away from home (notably in India & England)

Out ...stumped.........they have two days to score 400

I thought it was a great piece of bowling by Leach.  Labuschagne became unbalanced by a perfectly executed delivery.

Not your normal stumping where the batsman charges the bowler.

The Unit has gone, so thats it.

Id like to thank everyone for a most enjoyable chat during the series, and a most enjoyable series. Must do lunch down the road at Sunbury soon, the birthplace of the Ashes. Come and get them England.

As soon as I heard that Australia won the toss and sent England in, I knew we'd lose.

Paine, Langer et al obviously engaged Baldrick to assist them to make that decision. "I have a cunning plan..."

And it has turned out like that.

One can only assume they did it because the were afraid of Archer (can't say I blame em)

2-2 was a fair result if we're being honest Wadda.  England aren't much chop either but both teams won enough of the big moments to win 2 tests each.  Compelling viewing all the same.

Where we go from here is anyone's guess (in terms of building an A grade batting line-up)  Right now, we're a ways off.

Apart from an assortment of white-ball fixtures against various Nations we play Pakistan in 2 tests (mid to late Nov) and then 3 tests against the Kiwis from early December (Boxing day test & New year test included)

England go to South Africa for 4 tests (Dec/Jan) and that will be an interesting series.  Archer might create a bit of havoc on the sporting wickets in Sth Africa.

Yes i was thinking that exactly today. Boths sides were evenly matched and id have England slightly ahead of us as we are far too dependent on a one or two players. Im not really sure Smith is the best batsman or Cummins the best bowler, but they certainly carried the weight for most of the time. They had players in and out of form from match to match and wicket to wicket. It was certainly a fascinating series and the battle against the old enemy is still the ultimate game. If only the West Indies  could come good. New Zealand and Pakistan dont thrill me, but it will be quite watchable all the same. We need to go batsman shopping in the mean time. A draw was a fitting result.
