You know with Cam what you get. I would have thought that you hold on to a backup who can play in various Key positions and give his all and sometimes more. At 31 yrs could have held him for insurance. I am sure there were many of us who thought that.

Hopefully he is doing okay with himself.

Went down to Phillip Island to be a teacher i think, and apparently just rocked up to Bulldogs training one night and said he wanted to play for them.

Bret Thornton & Brad Fisher were a class above when they played for Dalyston a few years back, so no surprise that Pedo took out the B&F. Could've used him at Fishy this year, that's for sure.

Knocked out in the EF. But they saluted 2 years ago and were the inaugural WGFNL senior premiers.

I hear that Wonthaggi are trying to get into the West Gippsland League next year as they feel they are not competitive enough for the Gippsland League, would ruffle a few feathers as i know AFL Gippsland & now AFL Victoria have said that they will be doing a massive review at the end of next year to re-shape the entire gippsland footy region with their 'G25 vision - what they want it to look like come 2025' (too many leagues), so would be surprised if there is any club that changes leagues this year.

Though The Alberton FNL have been told the same thing for the past 3 years. Hopefully now that AFL Gippsland has been relieved of their duties, AFL Victoria will apply common sense and sort out this huge mess that has been created and left to rot.

a bit of an aside but do you think there is room for an FA cup series such as we now have in the A League?

I suppose the downside is that unlike soccer where one goal which can come from "luck" makes upsets possible such upsets are far more unlikely to occur in Australian rules.

Mind you even if the comp was only played among lower tier clubs the final would make a far more fitting memorial to Ted Whitten than what they played the other night.

One of the main problems is the travel, that and being able to afford player payments. A lot of clubs are struggling to even meet the minimum cap such is the lack of money some smaller clubs have. Also many of the local player's have full time jobs where it's even a struggle to get to just one training session a week.

If AFL Victoria was to fund the comp and some juicy prize money maybe, but i doubt there'd be much of an appetite for it from both AFL Vic or local supporters. The closest thing currently to something like that is the inter-league weekend where the best player's from each league play off against others from other leagues.

It was the wrong move to get rid of him after we lost Hogan. He would've been good depth at worst, and likely would've been our best forward this year had we given him another year.

Another [censored]-up by the club. Glad to see Pedo doing well and still enjoying his footy. Good bloke who always gave his all for us.

Not wanting to prematurely judge a player or anything.

Seems as though most of the jury is justifiably content with such an assessment. Cam was the man, when he was required as most other pillars failed.

Cam and Kimber work at a local school together. They are worth two extra players. Kimber is one of those next level local footballers that matured late. He has one 4 league BNF's and finished second twice. Both are great guys

Cam is a little two good for the level.

He could have played for lots of different VFL teams but chose the island as he wanted to take the teaching job he was offered and for family reasons.

And we wouldn't have won a single game more with him than without him. Preuss got an opportunity to show how far he's got to go, Keilty got a well deserved chance of a couple of games and we got some extra games in to Petty who showed he has at least a bit to offer as a forward. If Tim Smith, Weideman and T Mc were all injured then yeah we'd have kept Pedersen but knowing our luck he would've been injured too.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
