Well, sam, the FD clearly think differently.  Now ... who will I back?

Last year we set the precedent to trade out player/s in contract.  So not sure our trade options are only OOC players.  The lack of love for Tyson, Garlett, Frost, and Hunt (when not injured) suggests they might be the trade bait that would have some currency.

Agree every player is tradeable but still not sure what type of player/s we would be going after that justify giving up OMac and Gus.

...this might be a discussion best in another thread...

Nah.   Why break the long held Demonland tradition of introducing irrelevancies into a thread.

Why are we finalising the second last player on the primary list in July of the previous year?

I just don't see why this had to happen now.

Chomp earned his 2 years. Has continued to build his game and is in best 22 now.

A bit surprised with wags, but it makes sense for depth considering Vince might not go on and lever is 10 months away from playing footy.

I hope both boys can have some success

Yes I'm surprised also.

Q: Are OMac and Brayshaw trade bait? (thinking outside the box)

Harmes, Wagner re-signed...

Hunt ???

I don't mind Wagner, always had more time for him than a lot of others have, but if he does get a game I think it has to be as high half back and the slowest defender. Given Vince is nearly certainly done at the end of this year and Lewis shouldn't be in the side either we will have plenty of spots in the team/on the list to fill so I'm not concerned about giving him another year. I think he can kick, mark and read the play at AFL standard and has good endurance, just isn't quick or overly strong so can get caught out. Playing up the ground with some athletes around him and he can do the job.

I also think there's a strong chance they draft his brother based on his VFL form and attributes so far this year so keeping Josh over some other bottom of the list players makes sense.

Harmes - still not convinced by him on the wing, but he has physical attributes to play well on ball, at half forward and to me at half back. If he's 22nd picked we'll have a very good team. How much his decision making can improve in this next contract will determine if he plays for a very long time after or not. 2 year deal is interesting, maybe we only wanted to commit at good money for 2 years, or maybe his manager is chasing a big contract and trying again in 2 years.

So have I,,, 'DSpcr'.

I like his run and take it on,,, but the rest isn't there, just yet.  So there is always the question mark of, 'where he's at', atmo...

He's been given one more, to make good. ???  I hope he does, because he has the attack we want, but needs the rest.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
