Puff piece on Daisy's success

Nice little article on her success in a "men's" industry.

Big fan of Daisy so I thought I would share.

I noticed in the article she is 30, while that may be anise for the men's AFL.  I think the way women's is played over such a short period of time she'll be playing for a lot of years yet for us.  She won't have the wear and tear AFL men have by 30.

She leaves all the other special comment"nuff nuff's" for dead. She is so insightful and to the point on all teams  just not the pro cats and hawk comments that some have.

Daisy is a breath of fresh air. I get a kick out of seeing how she's leapt out of obscurity into the glamourous world of TV, radio, etc, and has handled it with aplomb. At the QB match it was great seeing her on the big stage rubbing shoulders with everyone and seemingly totally at ease with it all.

As for the commentary ... she does this thing called "putting in the work" that most of the ex-player commentators don't do. They think that having played the game is enough. How did they get to the top of the playing world? Putting in the work. In the commentary world, the same thing applies. It doesn't just happen. But the standards of the trophy collecting TV stations are so low, they're happy just to have "Lingy" and his ilk hanging around, not to mention their encouragement of the stupid antics of the roaming f***wit.

Agree. And whats more it is clear she does her own research and prepares super well for her special comments role. Unlike almost all others.

It amazes actually how clueless footy commentators seem to be eg about teams, players, stats etc etc

Puff pieces on Demons never work out well for us.

Expect her to have a shocker on the boundary tonight, mumbling plenty of words and a possible wardrobe malfunction.

I think she's doing ok but she has a long way to go to reach the heights of Dixie Marshall.

Dixie Marshall enjoyed her times with all the male attention, she speaks fondly of it.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
