We had it against Hawthorn...we don't need another one.

In: Wagner.

Hibberd to play Lever role & Wagner to play Hibberd role.

**actually who bloody knows

Precisely, it is a very hard call. Pedo, Frosty, JoelS, Wagner, the bloody works. If these players are all fit, it's Frosty and Wagner, with Pedo on the bench against the Filth, without further change. Rotations will be keys to success. Let us not be intimidated by the Filth and play our game.

I think we'll be thereabouts at the pointy end of the year but I'm just waiting for us to have that TERRIBLE game. Like for example Richmond's game against St Kilda at Etihad where they got done by almost 100

Sydney at the G

Port at AO

Suns at the G (only half joking)

Freo at Darwin (lose by 70 pts, Fyfe 100 possessions)

One thing a few are not discussing is that Collingwood may decide to 'tag' Hibbo (if i was an oppo coach i would to try and stop his run; i.e. Carlton game with Jed Lamb i think trying to get into Hibbo for the first quarter and a bit). So say Collingwood do this, then he probably couldn't play Lever's role (plus i love Hibbo and Jetta as 1v1 kings, but with attacking flair once they win it). Similarly, I'd be putting ANB on that Collingwood wing/backman (Tom Phillips; like hibbo) to stop his damaging run and meters gained.

Interesting to think about anyway. I'd bring in someone fast and hard, who can repeat gut run at a high intensity to cover any potential fast breaks.

Do we need another tall defender this week?

My concern is Collingwood's midfield. The Bulldogs smashed us in clearances which is a huge worry and Collingwood have a better ruckman and midfielders.

We lost the clearances 26 to 45 today.

Please no more Pederson or Vince. Tyson needs to come back after his game for Casey. Spargo isn’t quite there yet and Hannan doesn’t do enough. Stretch deserves another go,

Stretch is NOT up to it I don't care how many good games he plays at Casey

He panics when pressure is on and that at this level is all over red rover!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
