Just take that she thought you were cute and forget the rest. Guessing Maxy would have been the most popular player on the day?

It’s still uncomfortable as I get tired of thinking any man and woman together must be a couple. Though I was flattered that she thought I was their mother.

Gawn was awesome. Asked my nephew who his favourite player was. Even though it’s Jones, he said Gawn. Really friendly and seemed to be having a good time. Even lifted up twins for this woman I saw.

As for complaining about it not being held at Luna Park, how about going to Luna Park after? It’s not like it’s late or anything. It was packed there as it was.

There seemed to be more of the little kids there but less teenagers. Possibly a venue like Luna Park would appeal to them a bit more than the G. The club might look at possibly alternating the venue to cater for that crowd.

Location would play a part in this. But also it might be related to our poor performances and standing as a club for the past decade. We've no doubt lost a chunk of potential supporters from that generation.

Moving on... has anyone got any photos of the day, apart from on Facebook? They didn’t show much apart from the video

Finally back to the subject...

Awesome shots. I bet they’ll be big stars in a few years. What a great day.

Bump. I took my family to the Melbourne Stars family day at Casey Fields yesterday. It was a significantly bigger and better event than our own family day, and I hope the MFC took notice. There were probably around 40 activities around the oval, plus the WBBL game next door, compared to perhaps 10-15 at the MFC day.

Local sporting clubs and other groups were represented, and there was cross-promotion with other codes (eg Melbourne Stars memberships bought on the day came with free MFC memberships, although this was not promoted other than via email a couple of days earlier).

The crowd was smaller than I expected (not necessarily a bad thing for the attendees) but still decent, and perhaps the weather forecast played a part. With the number of activities and stalls everyone was well spread out and lines were never overly long.

Although there were some AFL activities, MFC was not promoted at all on the day which I thought was a big oversight. The Rebels, Victory and Vixens all had a presence to some extent.

After the players were presented on stage they were available for an hour for autographs and photographs in the inside of a roped off square. My son picked up 30+ signatures in just over half an hour without moving an inch, plus some photos with his favourites.

I assume there would be resistance to moving our family day to Casey (I am midway between the two so am not fussed either way), but getting that level of support from the City of Casey would be attractive. Thoughts?

I hope the club puts on the Family Day at the MCG again in 2019. It was a fantastic day and the kids loved it. I also hope they have more activities for the kids. The lines for the ones they had were huge. It was great that the club was able to attract so many people but they need to have more activities spread around to accommodate everyone.

Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read.
