Who remembers these?

Loved watching the kids running onto the ground in a couple of those

I do. Great memories for mine as that dancing cartoon Demon appeared on TV quite a lot in those days.

They were quite prescient as well in they predicted Lawrence Angwin's and Karl Norman's exploits at Carlton 15 years before the fact.

The Dogs' cartoon was bog ordinary however. That looked like a barking brown pig.

They do this on the big screen at home games after a win. A nice touch imo.

All a bit of a blur to me now! I also remember reading these mini books with the animation on the cover and the club theme songs at the back? What were these about?

Yeah we had those at our school library - the author has modern versions out you can get at Target my son has the Demons one. Bit out of date now though, Roos is the coach, and also features Grimes, Howe and Dawes

Loved reliving thank you. You'll hear similar soundtrack 'round at ours the day after Ailsa's lentil & cabbage soup night.

Wow those were.....interesting!

Why is the Collingwood one a duck?

The funny thing was that in the 'Carn the Demons' book, the fat kid with the glasses went to the footy with his Mum and bought a 'thermos of coffee and a tartan rug'.

I look forward to the updated version where the parent and the kid bring a cheese platter complete with smashed av and smoked salmon.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
