Sir Why You Little 37,450 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 I didn't like the idea of Jack being made Co Captain, didn't think he was ready. I was wrong and am happy to fatten up with lots of pie mmmmmm i still don't partcularly like Co Captaincy but that has nothing to do with his Leadership Qualities. Jack actually became a far better player with Jones not there!!
Guest Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 I think Jack sensed Saturday night was his chance to put his mark on the captaincy. He knew all eyes were on him. Plus, he didn't need to worry about being deferential to or stepping on Jonesy's toes. Had he not gone off in the third, he well may have broken Tom Mitchell's possessions record. His would have also been made up of more than the cheapies that Mitchell was getting. That bump on Hurn (all in the course of play) would also have been demoralizing for them and would have sent a message to our boys. Our captain lives by the sword. When it's his turn for a whack in the mouth, he cops it and doesn't complain. But he will also dish punishment out when he can. We need him this week against the Swans. No ifs, buts or maybes. He doesn't turn up Saturday night, we lose that game.

My use of speech markers and conjunctions was a bit clumsy. Probably should have started a new paragraph now I come to think of it.

Just shows how the written word can sometimes have different meanings.

Would surely have broken that one.
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Well said SWYL. (I swear I thought this was going to a thread about Oscar. It's so refreshing to have multiple players improving).
CanberraDemon 214 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Not just happy to eat humble pie, I'm absolutely ecstatic!!! A few more games like that and he'd have to be in contention for skipper of the year along with Goodwin as coach of the year. His game on Saturday will make the decision much harder for who the Swans need to target/tag in our side.
