In a very long-winded statement, the Old Xaverians Amateur Football Club has announced the appointment of James McDonald as their senior coach in A section for next year.

Congratulations Junior. OX's are the most successful and well run club in the VAFA. It's a real honour.

Junior Mac going back to where it all started for him, prior to playing for Melbourne.  Great to see a legend of the game giving back to grass roots footy, but then this sort of humility was always in Junior's DNA.

Smart move by Junior. Get some development at AFL while completing coaching course, take up a coaching role at a lower level and work your way up back into AFL ranks. 

Hope to see him back at the Dees one day...

Probably as good as you can get for 'grass roots' footy and hopefully a step towards an AFL berth for Junior.

He's already been back. Junior played for Old Xaverians in 2011 while also working with Greater Western Sydney's Melbourne-based players in a development role.
