Yeah I know, my bad...

Might drop $10 on that 6 for a f4, if it gets up 3% should be a healthy return especially if as you said behemoth is the fourth or not in it at all.

I'm doing something very similar Gorg ... the wide exotic (F4 esp) acts much like the multi

Small outlay for an excellent return.  If you win with the right combo.  Got to throw in a value runner or 2 though.  And we've done that with our 6 picks

It's good fun focusing in on one race as a group.  I can trust my teammates.

But even if Behemoth wins the exotics can pay well.  Especially if Dollar for Dollar & Pretty Brazen get into the finish.

I tried the low percentage wide F4 today at Newcastle and ended up doubling my total outlay on the 3 races.  And I just missed the last race F4 which paid over 3k.

I went 3/7/7/7 instead of boxing the 6.  Got the winner in the 3 races but that's the beauty of group racing.  Finding the winner is easier compared to benchmark races (IMV)

Mugatoo won well again ... an ADATR Blackbooker!

So we"ve got our 6 choices for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.  If there's a scratching in the morning Wadda can post up the sub choice.

And we can all get our chance to post up the possible sub (in rotation) but you've got to be available to do so on a Saturday morning

Might be best to hold off on having a bet in the race post the morning scratchings.  Just a thought.

But let's hope we can get a collect first time up.  All our choices have been winning or running on well in good company so we're definitely in with a chance.

Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes 1400m Group1 $500k

#1 Behemoth (Default Pick) 7-2

#4 Cascadian (DZ) 12-1

#5 Superstorm (Macca) 9-1

#6 Dollar for Dollar (JV) 25-1

#11 Age of Chivalry (Gorg) 9-1

#13 Pretty Brazen (Wadda) 15-1

Seeing we're on a new page I've quoted the exotic combo post.

And it must be said that the racing up at Randwick is first rate tomorrow as well.  Verry Elleegant looks the winner in the George Main G1 but Avilius might not be done with yet.

And both Paul Joice & Ron Dufficy have picked Life Less Ordinary (was 20-1,  now 12-1) in the Kingston Town Stakes (Race 8)  Should get a nice run in the race.

They also both like Prime Candidate 6-1 (Race 1) and Think it Over 9-1 (Race 3) ... bit of value there.

Gator's tips are up on the Racing.com site (under the guise of best bets)

Best Bets:

Caulfield - Race 3 No 8 Portland sky $6 (W)

Caulfield Race 4 No 7 Front Page $3.10 (W)

Caulfield Race 6 No 6 Agreeable $5 (W)

Randwick Race 5 No 5 - Probabeel $2.70 (W)

Caulfield Race 7 No 12 Dabiyr $4.00 (P)

Race Day!

And the Demons are playing for a finals spot.

Bit like the old days when if you couldn't get to the game you'd listen in on 3DB or 3UZ (the racing channels)

And we were often broadcast on either of those 2 channels.  7 total minutes of footy action over the 3 hours!

Well bad luck Gorog, certainly was blocked in on the inside by Valaquenta.....

Yeah I’ve noticed quite a bit of blocking in these races, especially the first race. Horses are all over the joint

That's the way we race in Australia ... and I doubt it will ever change

Other jurisdictions around the world it is way different.  Here - its often a free-for-all but luck works both ways just not your way today.

Might best bet has been scratched tomorrow!

So I'll go with the below as my replacement:

RANDWICK RACE 5 #5 - Probabeel $2.70 WIN

Good call again JV

Kolding looks to be back in business ... it's last start 2nd was the pointer

But alas,  I was on Avilius ... didn't run on but it might have one big run left.  Maybe

Verry Elleegant couldn't get out (?)

Only audio here but the caller said it was unlucky.

Tagaloa not nominated by any of us, I do like that horse

I agree and also Banquo, but we cant have em all......you can always add a few in yourself on your own bets as Macca mentioned, I sure will.

Should be a good race.....

And we now have 5 choices for the 6 pick exotic (Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes)

#1 Behemoth (Default Pick)

#4 Cascadian (DZ)

#11 Age of Chivalry (Gorg)

#6 Dollar for Dollar (JV)

#13 Pretty Brazen (Wadda)

If there aren't any more takers by 6pm tomorrow I'll post up a choice.

But I like all the choices so far anyway ... My first 3 choices have been taken up but in such a wide open betting race,  there's a few others to choose from

So we should have it all finalised by tomorrow evening.  Putting a bet on is optional of course and up to the individual in any way they prefer.

I'm tossing up between a Tri & F4 but I might split my outlay and have 2 smaller bets on either exotic.

And a small percentage can still deliver a very decent dividend.

Thanks in advance for participating.

Great effort, hopefully you at least got the Trifecta, 10 for 4th was almost a field job to get it!!

Should have taken the tri as well ?‍♂️

So close for the F4, thought Tagaloa might just hang onto 4th.

Thanks Spud

Yeah I got a half decent % of the trifecta so well in front.

F4 paid 26k ... we got close!

Hope a few others got the Tri

Well done to JV & Wadda for picking Dollar for Dollar & Pretty Brazen.  There's no way I would have included both.

Only audio here but it must have been some sort of run by the Big Boy ... carrying 60kgs as well.

What a horse hey!

Cant say I took the tri Macca? Got a multi going with

Probabeel - Win

Dollar for Dollar - Place

Richmond - Win

Hawthorn - Win

????

That's pretty good going we got 3 of the 4... Reckon we'll hit one or two by the end of the spring carnival.. Today's Tri out of our selections was very juciy. We'll get them one day lads ?

I reckon you could be on the money @JV7, feeling we will snag one this spring. Some great choices. I didn’t even think to take a % of the tri.

Had an almost day today, 3/4 in the quaddie, Tagaloa short by about a neck for the F4 and 2/3 in a multi. It’s Me, Dame Giselle and the last leg well, the less said the better.

Go Hawks!

(That will net you a nice return - good luck)

I wasn't even really thinking about the trifecta until the tips starting coming in.  Was really confident that Behemoth would either win or go close and then we'd only need 2 of the remaining 5 to get into the first 3.  F4 are a lot tougher to get but the payoff is often terrific.

Any other combination of the first 3 that crossed the line would have paid a healthy 4 figure amount too (especially if Behemoth finished 3rd)

In the end,  I put more into the Tri than the F4 for the above reasoning.  6 picks seems a lot but is it?  With huge pools and numerous chances,  5 choices isn't enough for me.  Esp so for the Cup races and races like the Everest,  Derby & Oaks.

The adage - take a smaller percentage of a bigger dividend.

I reckon the concept is worth persevering with but we'll all need to get the odd collect to keep the interest up.

But even the exacta paid 100 and the quinella 80.  Later on I thought about Behemoth winning with the other 5 to finish 2nd or 3rd.  Cost of 20 for a return of 846.

Punters lament!

Footnote:  Watched the replay a few times and Behemoth is an absolute beast.  Jockeys aren't big people but Williams looks really tiny aboard the big boy.

Definitely Zephyr, having a group pick 1 each makes it easier I reckon... Like Macca said, some selections you wouldn’t even look at unless someone in here mentions it. Spewing I didn’t take the tri, could  have been a nice little get. I also had an almost day, close to cleaning right up but not close enough... That’s the punt ay!

We were a tad unlucky with the track being upgraded to a Good3 too.

Peter Mooney,  Gator and a few others in the know were saying (around lunchtime today on RSN) that the track tends to favour on pace runners once the surface becomes a fast one.  The backmarkers just can't catch up once the leaders kick away in the straight.

So Cascadian,  Superstorm & Age of Chivalry couldn't make up the ground quickly enough.  By contrast,  Achernar Star drew the inside gate and had a relatively cushy run.

Behemoth did make up ground of course but he may be heading for a stellar career.

Yep @Maccamy selections were based on back markers making ground thinking there would be some fast pace up front.

Same mate, 3/4 of the early quaddie and quaddie, a few seconds and thirds, the F4 of course and then last night missed a multi due to Curnow having 19, needed 20.
as Macca said, the punters lament ?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
