When ever the game is in the balance we never have a player stand up and grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Leadership group should be doing this, but they don't. 

Coaches should be reading the game and changing our weaknesses in game, but they don't. 

How we expect kids to grow in these terms when the senior players and coaches have one idea is beyond me.

 

I've thought this a few times this year but didn't say much, but this is Groundhog Day, but without Bill Murray. It ain't funny.

Harsh on Jones. I thought he tried hard but was a lone hand as he has been for the last 9 years. 

He can't do it alone and it is a shame that the rest of the leadership group did SFA today.

Easy to be a leader when your are skiing down hill. Leaders need to show it in loses as well as wins.

Lets just underestimate doing it when it's harder shall we and be happy.

Mr. Gaahl, in his OP, made the claim we had no leadership.  We were outplayed today, it wasn't down to leadership.

When we are behind,the bum slapping during the breaks has to be replaced with a spray by our so called leaders.

So Mr Anselmo, where was the leadership today? What player truly stood up? Jones at most and I don't think he was very influential today. Did the coaches change the game plan? Did the other leaders try and influence the game with multiple efforts, courageous deeds? Viney punched a bloke four times... He is a leader. 

As I said, it's easy to do hen things are going your way.

 

Carey, Voss etc did things in games when they were down to lift their team. Who does it for us? When was the last time? I'd say Neitz in about 2004.

Nothing to do with leadership. Jones Jetta and Vince provide that but the sheep do not follow. We only have a handful of other players

who can be relied on week in week out to perform The future is in only a few players hands. Hogan Petracca Brayshaw Oliver and maybe Weideman.

Plenty of solid leaders who have stood up at crucial stages this year. Namely, Viney, Watts, Vince and Jones. Losing a football match doesn't automatically equal an absence of leadership.

None today, none vs saints, none vs Essendon.

Pest was good, no denying that.  Gaahl was handy was well, though.  Liked them both.

I thought we got decent leadership today, but I felt we were outplayed and out coached more than anything.  I thought we got ourselves back into the game in the third and then kicked ourselves out of it.

I don't put it down to leadership, as I think we go okay in that area, but more about learning what to do when the heat is on and things aren't going our way.

I included the coaches, as I agree, I think today and vs Sainst they were the biggest failures.

What I'm crying out to see is a player or group to actually inspire their teamates. Jones really tries, and he is a good captain, but I want to see some one really impose themselves onto the game both for us and against them.

 

Gaahl is good and I like those albums but "quantos possunt ad satanitatem trahunt" Is my fav album and very nearly my fav black metal record of all time. 

Jones played well and despite a few clangers early on was probably Melbs BOG.

Watts could have stepped up but has trouble plating back to back good games still

This is a side coming out of ten years from hell. We are still on track to win 10 games but we are still a long way to trouble the top six. We need 2 polished defenders and another ruck/fwd to get there.

Lets remember that this is more like a home game for port given the travel for us

 

Hope we try harder against hawthorn. At least we wont be faves.
