Jack Viney Brownlow?

Don't bother with the Petracca bet. He would have to be crazy good to win from here, would required him to be picked this week and barely have an off game for the rest of the season. That doesn't happen for debutants. It's also a decent class this year, he has some ground to make up so would have to be clearly above those who will play 20+ games. Just my opinion.

I still think Petracca will win from here. Specking Oliver as well.

I think Gawn is a better bet though. If you give Gawn the 3 votes on the weekend, he would've picked up 2 or 3 in the North game. Now there is some early recognition about Gawn, and he has already beaten the premier ruckman, he should be able to smash some inexperienced rucks. That should be automatic 3's. I am backing both Gawn/Viney.

How about Maximus Gawn

Wayne Carey looks at the next generation of superstars: The ones who've really caught my eye this year are all on-ballers, all elite decision makers and all tough competitors. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/the-afls-next-generation-of-stars-20160609-gpfiil.html#ixzz4B7vp9EHc

They are: Bontempelli, Schiel, Cripps, Heeney and our own Jack Viney!  About Viney: He's a captain-in-waiting and will give Melbourne the leadership they need as they attempt to become a force in the game again. In that regard, he's also like Selwood: wanting to lead from the front. He might have to harness some of that youthful aggression, though, if he's going to be of maximum value to his team.

Those 5 players will share a few Brownlows in the next decade.

It will be interesting to see this year, how the umpires vote re Viney vs say the AFLPA votes.  Umpires tend to be attracted to the flashier mid-fielders so they may not rate Viney's games so highly. But then what do they know! :o

Tell that to Dane Swan and Matt Priddis neither of them were flashy in their years, just week in week out got the job done. Exactly what I want to see from a Viney, a Tyson and an Oliver. Leave the flashy stuff to the likes of CP5, Salem and maybe even Gussy (love me a good 2 footed midfielder) they have the confidence and the skills to do what those blokes simply can't, but the others will probably be known as more consistant at the end of their careers. Regardless I have high hopes for all!!

Just a question here.

When was the last time a player out of a top 8 team won the Brownlow?

I'm offering 3000 to 1 Jack Viney winning this years Brownlow. No amount too big.

Priddis - 2014

Is their a prize? :o

By the way, Roos has said Jack has been cleared to play by the medicos; its just a matter of having a look at his 'functionality' today ie handballs, pick up.

I was actually thinking of him when I was writing the reply.

What odds are you giving on Jack getting the most votes, though?

A fraction less R and B

A large fraction, I presume ...

A very large fraction bordering on a whole number.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
