2015 Player Review - # 6 Chris Dawes

Featured Replies

Fremantle in the "hunt' apparently.

Thought this was a joke initially.

Don't play hardball with them.

Howe and Dawes?

What would we get?

Not much of a "hunt" when you're pursuing an animal that's already shot.

lame game

Channel 7 reported tonight that Melbourne are prepared to Trade him. If no one takes him I would Delist him as he is worthless he can't run we would be better getting someone young in the forward line rather than Dawes

Slow, cant take a grab and gets out muscled by kids half his size.

Thanks Chris, later.

Look probably a good bloke...intelligent etc

But this is footy..im over him

Up there for post of the year along with Hogans_Heroes response in the Hamish Hartlett thread "I will abuse him on Twitter".

i really like Dawes, but as a player he is just so inconsistent.

What makes me wonder is who we are planning to get or develop to fill his place? Both now and for the long term.

King seems to be coming on well, but he is only 19 and very skinny still.

Frost? Looks good, but is unproven. The Pedo will do the job for now but he is ageing.

I know Hogan is the messiah but what happens if he starts getting injured again? Who is going to support him? There's Pedersen and perhaps Howe (if he stays) but that's about it. Our tall forward stocks are pretty thin. If Dawes is up for trade then I'd expect us to have a readymade replacement in mind.

He's had one excellent game since Roos arrived. I couldn't tell you anything noteworthy he did in 2013.

Good leader and great bloke but it became obvious as the season progressed that he and Hogan shouldn't play in the same team. Pedersen, ironically, plays Dawes' role far better than Dawes himself. If we can get currency for him then move him on, just like Howe.

This is it, he can't take a grab anymore.

Is Dawes going to refuse the trade if it gets that far.

No, because they'll just tell him he won't play an AFL game if he demands to see out his contract at the club.

Dont get me wrong here I liked your post, it gave me a great laugh.

I agree totally with you.

Haha, glad you clarified that one. Being ranked next to HH for post of the year was disconcerting. ;)

It is good the club is getting serious...Great Bloke

His body is shot for Footy

We must move on

I've been banging on all day how Majak Daw would be a better option and cost about 400k less.

Anyway Majak has been done to death.

It does make you think that they may have someone lined up. We're freeing up the cap space.

The Hartlett comment was actually bloody funny(to me anyway).

Every now and then he comes out with some classic lines.

This

Reality is reality

I so hoped he'd prove ok as hes everything youd want in a middle order semi senior player.

But..its really about on the park , on the day.

Its just not happening.

I'm yet to determine if HH is a satirist or legitimate poster.

I wouldn't put it past Titus O'Reily to be trolling us.

We fuel the finest fodder !!

Its strange because you don't know who anyone else is but you get a feel for them by their posts. Every now and again there's a heated debate but there's also some wit, which goes a long way.

We can't win a premiership but we're possibly the most interesting forum.

Funny old world.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
