Huge lift at the end of that quarter with a goal on the siren putting Casey with five points after trailing by 22 points well into the term.

Casey 9.7.61 to Williamstown 10.6.66

Great work by Hunt to get the ball from outside 50 into the goal square for a Nathan Page free kick.

Casey 11.7.73 to Willy 10.6.66 after mark and goal by Russian.

Scores level now. 10 mins into last qtr.

Spencil has played a big game. Would have a lot of marks.

come on casey

16 mins in and it's now Casey 11.7.73 to 13.7.85

Set shot for Lovett from outside 50 and it's a goal!!!

Set shot for Willy and they get a point. Now 79 to 86 at 21 min mark.

Here we go again. Looks like the Salem and Tyson unavailability for the seniors will cost Casey the win.

Mark in front of goal for Willy and easy goal. 79 to 92. 23 mins down.

27 gone now and Willy have it locked up. 79 to 93.

Siren and the Scorpions go down by 17 points - a very disappointing result because they had to win and the loss of a AFL players before and then a couple more during the game was very costly to the cause.

Williamstown 3.1.19 8.6.54 10.6.66 14.12.96

Williamstown Jolley Dunell Banner Meese Sing Carr

Game over. 79 to 98 after scoreboard correction.

Valiant last qtr. they didn't go down without a fight but loose kicks gave Willy a chance to intercept on several occasions. Didn't see Fitzy the whole second half? And Toumpas didn't come back on after head knock so we were down on a forward target and down on rotations.

And Toumpas didn't come back on after head knock ...

Putting other considerations/comments to one side, he hasn't had much of a run with injuries etc. of later. Similar thing happened 3 weeks ago (head knock) then last week was apparently sick or post-flu or whatever.

Jack again with goal number four.

Why has he been playing in defence?

learning the caper, & personal development - confidence, without the pressure of expectation, self,,, & others ???

Disappointing end to the year for the Scorps

Fitz and toump always show glimpses but can't seem to stay injury free or play consistent good footy. Will be an interesting off season

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
