Upcoming training

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just wondering where I can find out about upcoming training sessions

Thanks

Try the MFC Club website is always a good start. The sessions next week are at the Maroochydore (Qld) training site.

On Monday, the new recruits are at AFL induction.

Hope there is an increased focus on drugs in sport and the responsibility of the player.

A pity there is no practical example that can be shown.

My understanding is that all players receive education on doping on an annual basis which includes having instilled into them the notion that they are responsible for everything that goes into their bodies.

Where would they go to for practical examples?

Anybody travelling up the highway,If you see a scooterman, stop and pick him up.

None local. Would have to go as far as the US or Europe to find examples ~

Well Had the Essendon example been finalised it would provide a fine practical example.

As it is the biggest alternative example would be Lance Armstrong.

I think the point was that there should have been an example - Essendon.

Alas, it looks as though there may be minimal repercussions in that case.

Call me stupid but i think WJ was being ironic. Perhaps he could have been more explicit, eg:

'In this session we are talking about why it is crucial that players are fully aware of - and take full responsibility for - the status of any drug they ingest, inject, inhale, smear or allow to permeate their skin through osmosis (eg in the club spa).

We will give an example of one Victorian football club, that shall remain nameless, but for today's purposes we shall call the jets, whose players were pretty naive and to be truthful very, very stupid. For they did not heed our warning. They put their blind faith in their club and their messianic coach.

Now thus far the players haven't been found guilty of anything - but will be - but none the less they have endured unprecedented scrutiny and stress. So learn from these trusting man children and check with your own doctor (not you club doctor), google the drugs your club have suggested you use, discuss with your manager - hell even call ASADA if you have any queries. Clear?'

Agree with what you say but this is still hypothetical and it would be better to have a real example especially from our own code.

I imagine the unfortunate Saad would be an extreme example.

It is interesting to contemplate how the generation that is raised on virtual reality can be made to understand the consequences of non virtual reality. The involvement of gambling and the effects of unfair advantage contradicting each other and the concept of sport as entertainment also confusing the understandings. Unfortunately the reality is that no Essendon player has "been found guilty of anything" and so it adds to the unreal universe that these isolated performers inhabit.

by the looks of what they got in that package I reckon most of them will be playing on the ipad air they recieved

As it is the biggest alternative example would be Lance Armstrong.

Hard to see why - Armstrong knew exactly what he was doing.

Need one of those examples of someone who was banned for not checking on ingredients, or who took something their coach gave them without checking.

True

Armstrong only valuable as example of the impact of process and commercial impact. That profile and position means nothing.

So perhaps Chinese swimmers?

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
