Interupted pre-season - who will be on the list

Someone posted that JKH was injured and won't have a pre season.

Thought it may be worth looking at who won't have a full pre -season this year other than Trenners for obvious reasons

Big Max and Bernie

Big Max and Bernie

Not as concerned with Vince missing a chunk of pre season, but Gawn desperately needs to get his endurance up to scratch.

What's up with JKH? Missing the entire preseason or just a portion?

Didnt he miss last years pre, with a metatarsal?

Not sure...he definitely participated as I remember reports of him "training the house down". Hope he's okay...love watching him play.

Will Salem get a clear run this year? Fitness was most definitely a problem in 2014.

Spoke to Christian Salem pre-season last year and he was carrying a thigh injury (I think from memory). He thought that he would be fine to play uninhibited a few weeks into that season so I am sure he will be fit and firing for this season.

Trengove - Navicular - Season

Gawn - Meninscus surgery - ?? - A great unknown, you can play 3 weeks later after a clean up or miss several weeks

Vince - Shoulder surgery - ??? - Depends if it was a full reco or some other surgery. Given Vince's high fitness base it shouldn't be significant

JKH - Mystery demonland injury - return date unknown

I would reluctantly add Jesse. All the talk is positive but he didn't finish the one game he played to manage his game time and he didn't play any part in the next Casey game. Have niggling doubt on how he finished up. Hope the medicos have learnt from their poor handling of him in the practice games early this year. Will sigh with relief when he has played out a few full games be it Casey or AFL.

Sylvia will be great next year - if he can get a solid preseason behind him.

Jesse Hogan will be fine, had a chat to him at the end of the season, it was his choice whether to play at the end of the season, decided to miss last game, if you read other post about boys being back on track, he gets a name check there

The medicos have nothing to learn, he wasn't the first young player who was still growing to experience back problems....Tom Hawkins is the most 'famous' recent case, Jayden Hunt, Rory Taggert (who used to be on list) and Pickles Evans have all had back issues

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
