Trent West

Further to the thread about Leuenberger, it makes some sense (to me) that Trent West's name is raised as a potential target.

The advantage of West is that he'd be a lot cheaper than Leuenberger - the Lions paid a 40-something pick for him after Geelong paid a 30-something pick for him.

I do think we have some ruck issues, hence me looking at these two. Jamar is on last legs, I still have no idea if Spencer can play or not, Gawn will be fantastic if he can stay on the park (no guarantee), King is raw, then we look at Pedo and Fitzy.

Premiership winning ruck, might be looking for more opportunities if a Ryder deal can be done. Also originates from Victoria, which may help?

Again, discuss...

Didn't he do his ACL Mid season?

26 and a decent footballer.

No he's not. Another terrible kick, actually shocking kick.

I've seen him do a Jordie McKenzie in front of goal.

I hasten to acknowledge, he's an excellent mark but middling to ordinary ruckman.

He'd feel right at home next to Jamar and Spencil then!

West is not a bad kick, not the greatest ruckman but does a lot of other things well.

He was good before going down this year. I like him.

Cracked the sads when he wasn't in the finals. When geelong did give him the chance to be first ruck, he was shown to be not good enough.

And then sold to Brisbane where he would play if Luey went down.

A backup but nothing more. Pass.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
