Please view the historical record for my predictions.

Actually, i have not got any wrong, yet. maybe trengove is he dosnt come good again. But I have been picking the right players since we started getting footage on the internet.

I go for the Geelong type of players, gladitorial winners. Like Hogan or the freaky aboriginals. I think you need a couple of freaks.

Those Freaky indigenous boys all worked out really well, didn't they. Out of that group the only one you would class as a gladiator is Mumford. You are no genius and through the history of the draft there have been a lot more misses with draft picks than hits.

You've just been Pennant St Dee'd!

He's played 16 games FFS...

I'm not surprised though with people's expectations in today's "I want it right now" world.

Relax. At least let the kid have a few more games, people mature at different times, physically and mentally, the latter is evident on demonland...

Alot of early bloomers in that draft

If I were re-doing the draft right now I'd say

1. Wines

2.Whitfield

3. Mcrae

4.Vlastian

5. Mayes

6. Toumpas

7.Menzel

8.Plowman

9.Stringer

10.O'rourke

Toumpas is averaging 17 touches and a goal this season, so statistically he's going okay for a developing player but he needs to add that contested ball element to his game, he is either very damaging on the outside or he can win his own footy.

If we are redoing the draft now you have to take a few things into account namely those players we have seen a fair bit of and those we haven't. Would we still give up pick 3 to get Hogan - yes I would but those who want immediate impact wouldn't.

Do you want a ruckman because our ruck stocks don't run so deep, if I was picking players on what I have seen at AFL level

1) Whitfield - still the one for me, class and vision and will be elite

2) Mcrae - as above

3) Wines - what he doesn't have in class he makes up for with agression and size, barring injury looks every bit a 200 game quality mid

4) Viney - Lets face it had the opposition seen how good he really could be against men at this level we would not have got him at Pick 28

5) Grundy - still can't believe the Dockers who at the time needed a long term replacement for Sandilands took Josh Simpson over him, the Dogs who had Pick 5 could certainly do with him and Minson working in tandem now

6) Mayes - looks really classy and has the ability to play through the middle or off HBF really like this kid and he has not looked out of place since day 1

7) Vlastuin - as above although doesn't show the same class as Mayes but Toiges have a good one here

8) Menzel - there is the injury cloud but has looked good this season in a side severely lacking leaders

9) Toumpas - still shown enough to suggest he will be worth a Top 10 Pick, makes some good runs and knows how to find space, disposal is good so has the tools

10) Danniher - has shown enough and lets face it Bombers were never not going to take him at Pick 10 - it's about the player he will become not what he will do in years 1 & 2

Stringer has shown glimpses but overall been a disapointment to me

Plowman & O'Rourke I have not seen enough of but I actually in the little I have seen in O'Rourke I see apossibility as a big mid in teh Barlow/Mundy mould

Kent - slipped under the radar and would not drop out of the top 15-20 if this draft was done today

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
