The article should have focused more on what the MFC means to the AFL at present, including what the AFL's role in the club's long term should be. Instead he just adds a single quote from AD saying what he is expected to say, then rehashes old news.

I would prefer to read about what the AFL might be thinking behind doors, you'll never get a decent quote from anyone about it but you could at least frame the argument.

On that note, it will be interesting to see how the AFL treats us in the next few years, in terms of cash handouts, equalisation and priority picks. Especially given their recent commitment to the new clubs. To now I think the AFL has bad a foot in both camps, they're not prepared to force clubs out, but they're not really committed to effective assistance either.

My fear is they will only offer token assistance on those fronts, and we will continue to struggle. I don't think we are at risk of being folded in the short term, it will be a decade before they consider any change to the league lineup, but when that time comes, if we are travelling the same path as we are currently on, I can't see any other way but merge/move or fold.

From what I've heard they are not very complimentary but who really knows the truth of it.

we should have more concerns over the AFL then they over us .Perhaps if they apologized over Mifsud ,waived the $500000 fine and gave us a draft pick at the end of 2012 we wouldn't be so concerned .In reality the afl would like us and one other to fold and revert back to a 16 team comp that includes their 2 AFL teams .

Thinking about not impartially, you can only imagine that Vlad and co are rubbing their hands together with glee.

There's four years to go in the current tv rights deal.

Four more years of incompetence and token subsistence support from the afl will see them frame the argument that two clubs should go from Melbourne.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the North Melbourne Bulldogs - a combination of three clubs to become one - be part of a 16 team competition from 2017.

Give us another priority pick, we need it more than ever!!

It's not a priority pick we need, it's an injection of spirit and a cure for the disease we have had for the last 50 years.

We have stuffed up enough 1st round picks already, what we need is access to some players at other clubs who are PERFORMING WELL not being delisted. We need to have enough salary cap to attract a Buddy or a couple of top line Midfielders and a coach like Paul Roos.

We need to recognise that the players don't like Casey and as long as we perform poorly, we won't attract 1 extra supporter.

BTW I heard Vlad make the comments and he seemed genuinely concerned; I think we are so shell-shocked at the moment we take every comment as a sign we are going to be wound up.

They want a team in Tassie.

If we remain a basket case for 3-5 more years ... I can see us being repackaged down there as the Tassie Devils.

There will never be a team in tassie, no offence to the Apple Isle but AFL players wont live there.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
