PRACTICE MATCH: CASEY SCORPIONS v BOX HILL

I would expect that most of those who missed out on selection for the Port Adelaide game will be involved for the Casey Scorpions against Box Hill tomorrow.

Details:

SATURDAY MARCH 30

Casey Scorpions v Box Hill at Casey Fields Development League 11am, VFL 2pm.

One player I know who will be keen to get on the park is Max Gawn who tweeted yesterday:-

18 months on the sidelines, finally get to crack in this week in the vfl! #longtimecoming #pumped #thanksforallthesupport

Melbourne also re-instated Max to the senior list yesterday, having been on the long-term injury list since January 25 due to a hamstring injury. This followed more than a year's lay-off following his second ACL operation.

I think it's fair to say that all at Demonland wish Max well on his return to the game. I'll be there to cheer him on!

No doubt we'll also see James Magner who possibly would have been close to promotion to the senior list and even AFL selection but now would have to wait for a vacancy on the list to open up again.

Excited for Godzillas return. Hope to see him get a few senior games this year.

anyone heading down today?

Would love to know how big maxy and trenners go.

I'm here and there are 15 Demons on the team sheet for the Scorpions which I will have up soon. They include JT and big Maxy.

In the meantime, the Casey Development League (reserves) team lost to Box Hill Hawks 9.11.65 to 13.7.85.

Today's Casey Scorpions Development League squad:

1. Kyle Matthews, 2. Nathan Allen, 4. Ben Hughes, 9. Darcy Irwin, 12. Brenton Hillard, 15. Bryce Rutherford, 16. Jordon Roberts, 17. Tom Long, 18. Jackson Anderson, 19. Luke Bull, 20. Tom Fusinato, 22. Matthew Rosier, 23. Tom Corry, 24. James McFarlane, 25. Andy Godfrey, 29. Sean Corrigan, 30. Luke Hill, 33. Aiden Lindsay, 34. Brendon Neville, 35. Mike McPhee, 37. David Blackie, 38. Steve McInnes, 39, 41. Nick Lang, 44. Lachie Meadows, 45. Sam Waters

Today's Casey Scorpions Senior squad:

3.Luke Tynan, 5. Jordon Pollard, 6. Daniel Nicholls, 10. Mitch Gent, 11, Michael Riseley, 13. Dave DeAurago 14. Evan Panozza, 21. Michael Boland, 26. James Strauss, 27. Nathan Page, 28. Jake Best, 32. Will Petropoulos, 36. Ben Kearns, 40. Tim Smith, 43. Dean Terlich, 46. Jack Trengove, 49. Tom McDonald, 52. Troy Davis, 54. Neville Jetta, 55. Thomas Couch, 58. Josh Tynan, 59. Max Gawn, 63. James Magner, 67. Dom Barry, 70. Mitch Clisby, 71. Dean Kent, 73. Rory Taggert, 80. Michael Evans

A much better team than last week in terms of balance although the ruck situation looks a little problematic if they want to ease Max back into things after 18 months out of football.

Kyle Cheney is on the Hawks' list as is Luke Hodge. It would be interesting if the latter were opposed to JT during the game creating a situation where 2 AFL skippers were opposed to each other.

Thanks KC! Can you keep us updated throughout the game please?

Intresting no Chris Dawes?

Does anyone know why Dawes is not listed? Surely they could have listed him as a sub or interchange, the fact that he is not playing at all is ominous!

Intresting no Chris Dawes?

I'm guessing the selection committee think Dawes has enough mileage in his legs & will put him straight into the Seniors pending training & a fitness test next week?

thanks Casey

always good to see your work

We have the annual Golden horseshoe weekend here with the grand parade just started so I have a few minutes between customers to catch up

Today's Casey Scorpions Senior squad:

Gotta say, I'm really keen to hear about how ALL those guys go, Maxy and Trenners are big interests, but all those guys have potential and I'm keen to hear how they go.

Thanks for all your work keeping us up to date KC, always appreciated.

Conditions perfect for football with a light breeze and the cloud cover keeping things cool.

Max opened in the ruck and is doing well. So is Nev Jetta. Only 1 point scored to date - by Box Hill.

Good luck big Max.

For the third week in a row Mitch Clisby's # 70 jumper must have gone missing. He's wearing 74 again today.

Dean Terlich has been very impressive in a game that's become a battle of defences.

That's also the quarter time score. Casey in control but only 10 points in front.

Casey Scorpions 1.5.11 to Box Hill Hawks 0.1.1

Stat leaders: Magner 10, Couch 9, Terlich, Pollard, Davis 8, Clisby 7.

Rohan Welsh on the way to the Qtr time huddle, ' One goal five, typical fu#@ing Melbourne game style.' Good to hear isn't it?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
