Stuart Broad and "little" Joe Root going well for the Limeys.

Too bad it was in an ODI, ey ;)

Got to take what you can get, ey ;)

Watto made 135 the other day in a warm up game. And he's bowling again!!

Does that count ^_^

Had a feeling you may go that way Macca needing a West Indian and not many of their batsmen available.

In keeping with the theme of hard hitting batsmen, I'm going with:

Round 11, Pick 86

Jesse Ryder (New Zealand)

http://www.espncricinfo.com/newzealand/content/player/38373.html

Taken a 12 month break from international cricket, but is set to resume upon the completion of the upcoming IPL season. Has been dominating NZ domestic cricket this summer and if you can get a batsmen who averages above 40 in test cricket this late in the draft you simply have to take him.

This completes my XI. I'm assuming upon Django's final pick we present our XI's in their batting order with their role within the team and submissions as to why our XI's should be considered the best?

Edit: Ryder info.

I don't know that Ryder is a legit pick. I was going to pick.him, but his manager had just come out and said he wasn't available to be considered for selection for the foreseeable future.

Unlike Taylor, who had been chosen in a NZ XI and was on his way back in the immediate future, Ryder's issues apparently meant he had to play out the domestic season and then see how he felt before even being considered.

Haha. Apologies mate. I'm out and about on phone today - I wasn't confident re his name spelling.

TD, I'm inclined to agree with Rogue here, given what he has posted.

Given this latest news I want Ryder re-instated into my XI! :)

Cricket news may be pretty quiet until the World Test Championship and Ashes later in the year, but I just realised this year marks 10 years since our fascinating World Cricket draft.

Should we do another 10 years on? Can now also have the option of including players from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland??

What do we think @Rogue @Biffen @Macca @H_T @titan_uranus @45HG @Scipio ?

Hey mate, can't believe it's been 10 years! I do remember our Best Test XI draft was good fun.

This is my first post this year*, and looks like @H_T, @45HG and @Biffen might be in the same boat - hopefully these tags get them back.

If we can get people back on board I'm in!

*I'm still following the Dees as closely as ever of course, and will be there on the weekend.

Good to hear from you mate. I've taken many a break from time to time as well.

Great work, half the band is back together!😂

I'll give the others a couple more days. If no response I'll open up the floor for anyone else interested on the anyone for cricket thread.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
