Pre Season Guide

"This is unlikely to be this year (2013) but it may happen sooner than many observers expect as the club prepares with urgency and tries to fast-track the progress of its youngsters."

and Hogan Happy on the long road. "I just look at what I would be doing if I did not have this opportunity,"

and on a brighter and happier note we have these articles. yes Martha, "Positive Press " ; who would have imagined !! ^_^

I think I like this Ryan a lot more than that other ..." ( insert expletive of choice) " :)

Both readings are reasonable and circumspect. Both highlight we're doing a lot of the right things and that it will just take a bit of time to click. It does raise the prospect however that that "time" mightn't be as long as some might suggest.

I fully expect us to be up and running in 13, just how fast and how far..we all have views but its interesting to note that not all in teh 4th estate are doomsdayers regarding us.

A nice change

A stellar season for the Dees (Finals) and the Scorpions (Premiership) lies ahead!

It is a pity that young Garlett doesn't share this attitude :-(((

You started early today CBD!

I took particular notice of Neeld's comment about the list.

"We're not going to shy away and pretend that we don't have a lot of work to do. We certainly do and we are really confident that the group we have got will, over time, deliver sustained success for the club." – coach Mark Neeld.

He's obviously happy with the core of the playing group and assured the recent recruiting has been sound.

It's a big statement to make after only his first season as coach. He has had two draft/trading periods though and now appears confident the boys can start to deliver.

Thanks B59 - some enjoyable reading here...

My son and I can't wait for the new season to start.

Get over the cricket, finish the tennis (yawn) and we're off to game on Feb 22nd...Feb 22nd! How cool is that?

Thanks OD - maybe I came across as too keen to reach the footy date.

Of course I'll enjoy the next seven weeks of my life with my family, my friends and my work.

Happy New Year :)

Ex-Cat brings new ideas to Demons

Seems Byrnes , like a few other older recruits is proving his worth already.

So much is often punted about the game being so much between the ears that its important when players of the ilk of Byrnes come into a line up and are able to impart their history, experience and ideas into a group.

Yes its more of the summer ( no footy ) feel good mushy stuff but I can only imagine this is the very thing Neeld ( and FD ) was hoping for in grabbing the likes of Rodan and Byrnes and say Dawes. Injecting bonefide successful experience into the team. A bit like blood doping in a fashion , but the mental (psyche) side.

I forgot we drafted Hogan bloody beauty!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
